GALLERY: Kia Sportage – fourth-gen in the showroom

Kia_Sportage_HS_Ext-2

Earlier, we saw the first photos of the MY-spec 2016 Kia Sorento, which is being launched tomorrow, and now, here’s a photo gallery of another Kia SUV – the fourth-generation Sportage also happens to be on display at dealerships, and is set to make its debut alongside the Sorento.

The example you see in the photos is dressed with a GT Line pack, easily distinguishable by its “ice cube” fog lights inside large gloss black inserts in the front bumper, aluminium-look skid plates and variant unique 19-inch alloys.

The cabin meanwhile features leather seats, an automatic dual-zone air-conditioning system, push-start ignition, aluminium sport pedals and a steering wheel with GT Line badging, among other things.

While a number of engine options abound for the Sportage – which made its full global debut in Frankfurt last year – internationally, the Malaysian-spec version is powered by a Nu 2.0 litre MPI normally-aspirated mill, and this is paired with a six-speed auto transmission.

We’ll have more details on the new Sportage soon, so stay tuned.

I’m so proud with this new stunning Kia Sportage truly undeniably the Asia’s answer to Porsche Macan!

      • Nope. Asias Porsche Macan is the Leotard CS10, just like Landwind is Asias Evoque

Is it me or some of its exterior look similiar with Porsche Macan? Interior looks solid, albeit a bit dated.

If priced correctly, this could be a better buy than Mazda CX-3 if you don’t want the Honda HRV.

sorry kimchi, still no chance to challenge the sushi with this junk

CX-5, CR-V, X-Trail and even the Forester will be selling better than this

The front end of this new sportage is really awkward. Interior is dull too.

Why 3rd generation sportage for Malaysian market got panaromic roof and this 4th generation doesn’t got? I’m worry when next generation optima come to Malaysia don’t have panaromic roof even current generation optima in Malaysia has it.

So they decided to bring in the GT spec…will the 19 inch wheels be able to handle our potholes well? Looking at the pics the SUV is missing cruise control and the centre LCD screen looks smallish for navigation….that is if it’s available.

  • Sorry to say but to me the 4th gen Sportage is the ugliest model among all compact SUVs.
The head lamp, grille, frog lamp just don’t match with one another likewise the rear. The interior looks dated. Its’ sibling Hyundai Tucson would be more stand out inside out if they are to be placed side by side.
Based on the look, I doubt Kia could sell it well.

Looks nice. But it doesn’t have the wow factor the previous (3rd) generation had.

Can’t stand the wordings printed on engine top decoration cover. Is DOHC 16V something new or very advanced? Might as well put 2000 or AUTOMATIC like the 70’s…

Look like the new gen lost a lot of wow spec. What happen to AWD and the panoramic roof :(

Unless they price it at below rm130k, i doubt it will sell well as compared to the previous gen which is way much better spec at rm140k.

Kia malaysia should have spec it with 1.6 Turbo engine else this look more like a new design with less features.

The exterior is a letdown. Current Sportage looks way much better. They are going to have hard times trying to move this out of the showroom.
