The number of accidents and fatalities have decreased as a result of Ops Selamat 9/2016, according to the Malaysian police. The traffic safety operation was initiated a week before the Aidilfitri celebrations, which saw a decrease in fatal accidents compared to the corresponding period last year.
In a report by Bernama, Bukit Aman Investigation and Traffic Department, statistics deputy chief DSP Yazid Kasim said using the emergency lane was the most common offence committed by Malaysian motorists.
“We will provide the statistics after the operation ends tomorrow,” he said, adding that the objectives of Ops Selamat was to educate the public on courteous driving, respecting other drivers on the road and ensuring they follow the traffic rules.
After 11 days of the 15-day operation, Ops Selamat 9/2016 recorded a total of 15,524 road accidents nationwide. Bukit Aman Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department director Datuk Mahamad Akhir Darus, in an earlier report, said the number of summonses issued is also lower compared to last Raya.

Ops Selamat = Ops Emergency lane summon
Huge traffic jams every where … highways, fed roads and state roads … all journeys are at least double or triple of standard travel time. It takes 9 hrs from Pasir Puith to Butterworth, 15 hrs from JB to Alor Star etc.
well.. does it selamat?..
Those statistics is useless. Only show this yr accident rate compare to last year accident rate.
They should check on how the accident which occur this year and analyze it to prevent repeat incident.
Ops Selamat is likely some surface data and waste police and jpj forces to do some useless roadblock. Those roadblock causes jams.
