McLaren MSO HS – based on the 675LT; only 25 units

McLaren MSO HS 1

McLaren has revealed the MSO HS, a more extreme version of the 675LT Coupe, which is expected to debut at this year’s Paris Motor Show. All 25 examples have already been accounted for, and the lucky winners will all need to pay a visit to McLaren Special Operations (or MSO) to personalise their “High Speed” purchase.

Based on the 675LT Coupe, the MSO HS retains the M838TL 3.8 litre twin-turbocharged V8 engine that produces 675 PS and 700 Nm of torque. However, what makes it stand out from the regular Longtail is the aerodynamic bodykit that generates up to 220 kg of downforce at 241 km/h, according to Autocar UK and Road & Track.

A majority of the car’s body is made from carbon-fibre, with the front bumper, hood, roof and adjustable rear wing all made out of the material. The latter is inspired by the P1 GTR, and doubles as an airbrake as well, to emphasis the track-focused nature of the limited-edition model.

Each MSO HS cabin will be made according to its customer’s specifications, so the remaining 24 cars will be unique from one another. The car ditches the fancy leather for Alcantara trim, saving 3.5 kg, and with a pair of carbon-fibre seats, a further 15 kg is saved.

There are also F1-style shift lights for the driver and McLaren’s Track Telemetry (MTT) package, which should prove useful at the track. The MTT uses three cameras, timing software, multiple sensors, GPS technology and data logging to provide all the data needed to analyse your time out on the track.

So far, McLaren hasn’t provided performance details of the MSO HS, or any indication if the limited-number model is faster than the 675LT. Neither has the carmaker revealed how much the customized supercar will be priced from, but the fact that there will only be 25 examples of the MSO HS versus 500 units of the 675LT, that exclusivity won’t be cheap.
