JPJ will conduct study to find new SOP for roadblocks

The Road Transport Department (JPJ) says it will carry out a study to establish a new standard operating procedure (SOP) when setting up roadblocks, Bernama reports.

According to the department’s director-general Datuk Nadzri Siron, the idea of revamping the set-up is to minimise traffic congestion during operations, which is very much the case with the current SOP in place.

He said that the existing SOP received complaints from road users. “I am aware that the public has brought this matter up in the social media, comparing the way roadblocks are set up in developed countries where all the lanes are left open, compared to the one lane the JPJ leaves open now,” he told reporters.

“I have also instructed that the best module be looked at to reduce traffic congestion during operations, for the sake of all parties,” he added.

awal-awal kena revise SOP lah… 3 lanes, become one lane during operation. Make traffic congestion saja. Apa lah. I know operation is part of their job scope but be fair for road user. Hopefully the revise SOP version make it happen sooner, and don’t want wait until 2020. Also make sure the message passdown to all down lines.

Give this idea to them (JPJ) and Police when do roadblock:

    a) If 3 lanes roadblock at 3 lanes. Same with 2lanes etc.

    b) Arrange a cones 50m or 100m from the blocking lanes. And keeps the above a).

    Reguards

  • Bodoh. Nak study apa? Just use your brain and use all lanes instead of creating a bottleneck lah!

    • How else are they going to justify the new equipment ‘needed’ for the study? The labor to think up new training procedures? The new salaries for the upper management who have to sign all those approval forms? You need studies to do this, man.

  • This one also need study? Aiyoo.. Just make sure keep the total lane open while doing operation la kawan. Don’t just open one lane in three lane road while just couple of your officer doing the checking while other just lepak by the roadside. Optimize your available man power that exist during operation.

  • Study??? OK, take your time…. Soon it will be 2020.
It’s like sending your kids to school and they don’t do their duty as a student and you study why they fail and improve in this matter, where you only need to go back to basic!

If they conduct regular enforcement then we rarely needs roadblock.
The way things are done now is that they let everyone running loose and when things get out of hands only they conduct roadblock dring peak hour.
I really wonder where all the JPJ vehicle go everyday as they are not at JPJ office as early as 9am….No road block,no enforcement.Where did they go.

  • 1. All lane must be operational during road block
    2. All compound or saman must be attach with photo of the wrong doing like speed trap to prevent corruptions.
    3. Traffic police and JPJ are allow to do road block not police peronda and other agency. Some time i even see imigarations and Spad also do road block
    4. All road block should do after rush hour
5.if road block do in the night please have a flood light for safety reasons
