Tesla product unveiling on the 17th (unexpected by most), followed by Tesla/SolarCity on the 28th
— Elon Musk (@elonmusk) 9 October 2016
Tesla CEO Elon Musk has revealed on Twitter (where else) that the electric company/carmaker will unveil a (new) product on October 17. As he points out, the announcement is an unexpected one, so it’s anyone’s guess what Tesla will show us on the date.
One possibility is something related to the Model 3. As Musk pointed out back in April shortly after the reveal of Tesla’s most affordable vehicle yet that the design of the Model 3 isn’t finalised, and “part two” will be on its way. A production-spec version of the car or further information on the model could be revealed then.
Alternatively, as Electrek reports, Tesla could reveal its new Autopilot 2.0 hardware with hopeful retrofit upgrades (new advanced triple front-facing camera) to existing vehicles. The firm recently announced that it would start rolling out its 8.0 software update to owners, which increased reliance on radar.
