Hot on the heels of the price announcement for the 2017 Kawasaki Z650 ABS is the Malaysia price for the full-fairing Ninja 650 ABS, at RM37,189 including GST. Also released is the price for the Kawasaki Ninja 650 ABS Special Edition, which retails for RM38,189, including GST.
Carrying the same 649 cc liquid-cooled, parallel-twin that puts out 67.3 hp at 8,000 rpm and 65.7 Nm of torque at 6,500 rpm as the Z650, the Ninja 650 carries Kawasaki’s middleweight supersports mantle, along with an illustrious model name that first appeared back in 1983, with the GPz900R.
Like its sibling, Bosch 9.1M ABS is now standard for this pair of Kawasaki middle-weights, a welcome inclusion to the spec-sheet, as is an assist and slipper clutch. Both machines also have a low seat height of 790 mm, making them easy to ride and accessible for all rider types.
Fuel for the Ninja 650 is carried in a 15-litre tank, and wet weight is claimed to be 193 kg. A new trellis frame ties everything together, and wheelbase is stated as 1,410 mm, which should make handling sporty.
The Special Edition version of the 2017 Kawasaki Ninja 650 ABS- which goes for RM1,000 more – comes with a single-seat cover, smoked windshield, radiator cover and rim pin striping. Colour options for the Ninja 650 are Candy Burnt Orange for the base model, while the Special Edition comes in Kawasaki Green.
Both the 2017 Kawasaki Ninja 650 and the Z650 – both of which are only available with ABS – will be in GT World Ninja, Ninja Shops and Kawasaki authorised premium dealers by March 8. The 2017 Kawasaki Z650 naked sportsbike retails for RM35,609.

Pretty much a fair increase considering its a makeover + include ABS and slipper clutch
Yamaha and Honds should learn from kawasaki about the ABS as standard rather than optional
Kawa already launch the 650.
Honda CBR 250 year 2017 talk until cows come home also haven’t launch.
I wonder whether the buyer of this bike, who stays in Putrajaya, also gets free petrol from the Government?
I think the free fuel idea is for bikes below 150cc only. Definitely not for this 650cc bike.
Sure, if he’s a friend of Najib
the parallel twin offerings from kawasaki do not sound great at all. Hollow, just hollow. They lack the “V-Twin-ish” rumble when compared to that of MT-07 or triumph Street Twin, stock or not. They certainly look the part, nicely packaged (now with ABS as standard). I’m not sure how the latest iteration of it would sound though. Haven’t read the spec sheets yet. Fingers crossed
It is a good looking bike anyway U look at it. I hope the guy who buy this bike already have a car as it cost as much as a small car beside the car can sit 4 & U don’t have 2 wait under the bridge when it rain & its safer especially in this raining season.
Rider,
Please consider other option with the similar price range.
The classic looking bike (SV-650) more 10hp than this.
yes its come with ABS.
Great do-it-all-ability bike. Now with Gucci tote bags add-on safety featured should sell better than SV650 Suzi.
How’s the position of the foot pegs? Is it cramped like previous gen?
this will be a good upgrade for bicycle nyamuk riders
Haiya, parallel-twin again. Where are all the 4 cylinders lah? I really missed those old times when literally every sportsbike are called superbike regardless of the CC due to their 4 cylinders engine!
Now all bikes sounded like those modified mat rempit kapcai! The speed and looks might be there but when the bike is lacking of a 4 cylinder engine rev, it still doesn’t impress many people.
Your objective in buying a sportsbike/superbike is to impress.
