Lynk & Co sedan concept debuts – previews 02 sedan

Following the debut of the Lynk & Co 01 SUV, the company’s upcoming sedan has been revealed in a set of images that the company will run on its social media channels in the coming weeks. A Geely sub-brand, Lynk & Co has built its SUV from the Volvo CMA platform which is shared by the new 40 series Volvos, and the same underpins the company’s new concept sedan.

Here, the concept sports a dramatic scissors-suicide door arrangement, which open to reveal a four-seat cabin layout with access aided by the lack of a B-pillar. The sedan concept’s roof is finished in a contrasting purple, as is the driver’s seat, while the undersides of its front and rear doors lift to reveal ‘Lynk & Co’ inscription. The large, chromed wheels are each mounted by a single central lug.

Though technical details are still scarce, the Lynk & Co sedan concept earlier known as the 02 is fully electric. The production model is expected to to use Volvo’s range of engines, in both 2.0 litre four-cylinder turbo and 1.5 litre three-cylinder turbo forms. Given the commonalities with Volvo, the sedan is expected to take after its 01 SUV sibling in having plug-in hybrid variant when it comes to the market.

With the 01 SUV tipped to go on sale in China later this year, the 02 sedan is set to follow next year, as is a third, unspecified model. The Geely-owned brand is said to have a total of five models planned using the XC40’s platform as a basis.
