VIDEO: Renault Megane RS driven by Nico Hulkenberg

One of the most anticipated new cars this year is the new Renault Megane RS, the latest in a long line of hot Gallic hatchbacks. Building on the considerable amount of hype already created so far, the Renault Sport boys have strapped Formula One driver Nico Hülkenberg into their upcoming creation for an all-out thrashing, which you can watch in the video above.

Giving his thoughts on the car afterwards, the German praised the Efficient Dual Clutch (EDC) transmission, saying that it is more responsive than the one on his regular Megane. He also talked about the difference between the standard Sport and more aggressive Cup chassis, mentioning that the latter provides better performance on track, but may be a little too stiff for road use, hence the availability of the two options.

Hülkenberg also gave his comments about the 4Control four-wheel steering system, saying he could really feel it working on long, sweeping corners. The system uses an electromagnetic actuator mounted on the rear axle to provide enhanced agility, cornering performance and steering precision.

Renault is keeping mum on what will power the hot hatch, but it is rumoured the car will feature a 2.0 litre turbo engine producing over 300 hp, all sent to the front wheels. Aside from the dual-clutch transmission, Renault will also offer a six-speed manual gearbox as an option, which fans should rejoice after the company made the latest Clio RS 200 and 220 Trophy EDC-only.
