New Mitsubishi Triton VGT AT Premium variant, limited edition Mitsubishi ASX Adventure now available

Mitsubishi Motors Malaysia (MMM) has officially announced the Mitsubishi Triton VGT AT Premium, a new variant, and the Mitsubishi ASX Adventure. As previewed earlier this month, the latter is limited to 60 units and gets a range of exterior and interior enhancements.

The ASX Adventure sports a new front grille design with larger panels compared to the multi-tier arrangement on the standard car. There’s also no more chrome. Elsewhere, a rear bumper garnish has been added, which is linked to the newly added side moulding and fender guards, reinforcing the rugged “SUV look” further.

A set of 18-inch five twin-spoke alloy wheels, which are an inch larger than regular items, completes the overall look. The two-tone rims are similar to the Outlander’s. Inside, you’ll find blue accents on the door trim and black leather seats, along with aluminium pedals and air vent rings. Based on the 2.0L ASX 2WD, the Adventure comes in Sporty Blue Metallic and is priced at RM123,988.

The Mitsubishi Triton VGT AT Premium is a new variant that sits between the Triton VGT AT GL (entry VGT variant, introduced in September this year) and the range-topping Triton VGT Adventure X. Priced at RM116,300, the VGT AT Premium comes with new design 17-inch alloys, leather seats and a reverse camera with guidelines. The VGT AT GL, while cheaper at RM103,800, does without the larger rims (16-inch) and has fabric seats.

Elsewhere, MMM has fitted a new design sports bar to the Triton Adventure X, which is now priced at RM126,990, lower than the previous RM130,900. No difference in specs, except for the sports bar replacing the previous lid.

The Triton VGT is powered by a 2.4 litre MIVEC turbodiesel with VVT, 181 PS and 430 Nm of torque. The pick-up truck range was updated earlier this year, gaining a boost in safety equipment and features. Imported CBU from Thailand, the Triton comes with a five-year/200,000 km warranty.

Mitsubishi should just put the ASX to rest. Enough of the different variants which are just cosmetically done up and bring in the new models such as the Xpander rugged people carrier and if possible the hugely popular new Delica model. The latter will certainly mame an impact for its ruggedness and offroad capabilities. Come on Mitsubishi Malaysia, for once bring in the practical models!
