BMW X2 orders open: sDrive20i M Sport, RM320k est

It’s only three months since the BMW X2 made its global debut, but BMW Malaysia has already announced that Munich’s smallest SUV is available for booking now, ahead of its launch in the first quarter of the year. Preliminary specifications and equipment have also been released, with the sole variant being the sDrive20i M Sport in fully-imported (CBU) form.

Pricing will be adventurous to say the least, with the car estimated to retail at RM320,000. By comparison, its main rival, the Mercedes-Benz GLA, is priced at RM239,888 for the GLA 200 and RM269,888 for the GLA 250 4Matic, both on-the-road without insurance.

The M Sport pack means that the X2 will come with more aggressive front and rear bumpers and side skirts, highlighted in Dark Shadow grey. There’s also a tailgate spoiler as well as M Sport suspension lowered by 10 mm, plus sports seats and Aluminium Hexagon Anthracite interior trim.

Standard kit includes full LED headlights, LED fog lights, 19-inch M double-spoke alloy wheels, Comfort Access keyless entry, auto air-con, Parking Assistant, a head-up display, a Professional navigation system with an 8.8-inch screen, a powered tailgate and a reverse camera.

Under the bonnet sits BMW’s ubiquitous B48 2.0 litre four-cylinder petrol engine, making 192 hp and 280 Nm of torque. All that is sent to the front wheels via a seven-speed wet dual-clutch transmission. Available colours include Galvanic Gold, Misano Blue and Sunset Orange paired to black Dakota leather upholstery, as well as Black Sapphire with Magma Red Dakota leather.

    FYI, sDrive20i is 190hp and 280Nm, not 400Nm.

Wah this price won’t work. For the same amount can get the GLC250. BMW needs to CKD it for sales to take off.

BMW Malaysia did a pretty good job with the pricing of the CBU 530i when it first landed here. Till the CKD 530i was only marginally cheaper when it eventually came out. So am a bit surprised at the rather steep price of the CBU X2. And exchange rate for RM is a bit better now too, compared to the time the CBU 530i came out.

With The Volvo XC60 starting at 299k, I think this X2 will be a rare sight on our roads at 320k.

  • Good luck with that price ticket.

I think you’ll need all the luck you can get with this offering.

  • Errr understood that this one of the top shelf variant but still, pricing is ridiculous. It’s too close to XC60 which is larger and much more well equipped.

  • wow starting base price MAY be more expensive than base line x3?

may just be justifiable, x3 is ckd and x3 is cbu.

But why? Whose’s gonna splurge RM320k on a 192hp crossover coupe thing with no headroom and RWD? There are so many alternatives from Mercedes and Volvo which offers a much better proposition here.

  • Wow, Rm100k more than the X1 with which it shares platform and drive train (and most of the interior by the looks of it). Thats a whole lot of money for slightly different body shape, can see BMW shifting a lot of X1s on the back of this

  • Can’t decide which is BMW’s most shameful car currently; the Ugly AF 2 Series Tourers or this Horrendously Ugly AF X2. Number 2s with exception of M2 are such horrible looking cars.
