VIDEO: Modenas Dominar 400 in Malaysia – RM14,615

Newly launched in Malaysia is the 2018 Modenas Dominar D400 at a limited time introductory price of RM14,615 including GST, but excluding road tax, registration and insurance. The Dominar naked sports bike is targeted at the rider who wants a value-for-money motorcycle, especially those stepping up from the kapchai class.

Carrying the 373 cc liquid-cooled single-cylinder mill – based on the KTM 390 power plant – the Dominar 400 produces 35 PS at 8,000 rpm and 35 Nm of torque at 6,500 rpm. The triple-spark engine is fed by EFI and housed in a beam-type perimeter frame, power getting to the ground via a six-speed gearbox.

Braking is with Bybre, Brembo’s budget house brand, clamping a single 320 mm diameter disc in front and 230 mm disc at the back, with two-channel ABS as standard. Suspension on the Dominar uses a standard telescopic front in front, 43 mm in diameter, with a pre-load adjustable remote-resorvoir monoshock in the rear.

LED lighting is found all-round on the Dominar D400, with a back-lit LCD instrument panel in the cockpit. Fuel is carried in a 13-litre tank, and the D400 weighs in at 182 kg.

There are four colour choices available for the 2018 Modenas Dominar D400 – Matte Black (as in photos), White, Red and Blue. Warranty for the Dominar D400 is two years or 24,000 kilometres, and five free service visits are included in the purchase.

Semoga Berjaya Modenas… it have been quite awhile since Modenas introduce a model besides mopeds.
smart to bring in model from Bajaj with proven DNA. totally design anew from rnd will be too heavy to start with. moreover our market volume is no match what they have in india. Bajaj also bought the dna from ktm and so why not modenas from Bajaj …
all in all I do hope modenas will venture into making small engines for general purpose use such as portable gen-set, mower, small agriculture equipment and construction equipments… I think that’s the purpose of starting modenas in the first place.

This is really interesting proposition! If only i could loose few more kg and waist size to suit the rather slim look of its seats… :-(

Don’t worry bro..it seems that both pulsar and this was designed with bigger riders in mind.I’m a bit on the bigger side and the pulsar feels very comfortable.Dominar is bigger so no worries there.

Those who want to upgrade from kapchai can’t as they only have B2 license.

Those who have B license and money won’t want this.

    • For people with B2 license the Modenas Pulsar NS200 or Modenas Pulsar RS200 is the prefect match.

And why people with B license won’t want this? I used to have a BMW R1100RS for many years and I think about to downgrade to an Dominator 400 now (cheaper tyres, cheaper wear parts & I don’t go over big distances any more).

Yup, Indian motorcycle industry is advanced from design and manufacturing. I believe MODENAS should also look and re-badge from Vietnam especially electric bikes.

Up to this date, i wanna book at the nearest dealer in Taiping, but was told, the unit is not yet available. Could it be a production issue in Gurun?
