2018 Aprilia RSV4 RF Limited with winglets – only 125 units to be made for North America at RM95k

While the Aprilia brand is languishing in the doldrums in Malaysia, the US market gets a very special 2018 Aprilia RSV4 RF Limited, launched in conjunction with the previous weekend’s Grand Prix of the Americas in Texas, US. This limited edition RSV4 RF will be produced in a run of only 125 units and sold only in the US and Canada at a price of USD 24,499 (RM95,720), reports website Asphalt and Rubber.

Setting the RSV4 RF Limited apart from the run-of-the-mill RSV4 RF is the inclusion of carbon-fibre winglets, a special “Factory Works” paint scheme and a series production number on the upper triple clamp. While winglets are now cropping up all over the grid in MotoGP, Aprilia pointed out the winglets on this particular machine are not functional.

However, it should be noted the World Superbike Championship (WSBK) has made winglets legal on the WSBK grid, provided the race bike is homologated for public sale with the winglets included. The RSV4 RF Limited carries Aprilia’s 999 cc, 65-degree V-four mill, which it says is capable of 201 hp.

The graphics on the RSV4 RF Limited are inspired by the colour of the Italian Tri-Colore and the livery of the 1987 Aprilia AF1 250 ridden by Loris Reggiani which claimed the first of Aprilia’s 294 Grand Prix wins. This paint scheme has become something of a trademark for “works replicas” from Aprilia’s Noale facility, where its Factory Works programme is based.

In Malaysia, Aprilia is distributed by Naza Premira but rumours have emerged that the Italian brand might be switching distributors in 2019. Updates will be made available as soon as we can confirm any information.
