More news from the Intermot show in Germany, this time an offering from Yamaha and one we are not likely to get in Malaysia, the 2019 Yamaha Tracer 700GT. While official distributor Hong Leong Yamaha Malaysia does offer the Tracer 900, the Tracer 700GT is a middleweight sports-tourer that comes standard with baggage.
Taking the base Tracer 700 with its 689 cc Crossplane parallel-twin, the Tracer 700GT adds a taller touring windscreen, ergonomic seats and 20-litre capacity panniers, colour-matched to the bike. The standard Tracer mill puts out 73.7 hp at 9,000 rpm and 68 Nm of torque at 6,930 rpm, and we assume the 700GT is much the same.
Fuel for the Tracer 700GT is carried in a 17-litre tank, giving it more range than the 14-litre standard item on the MT-07. The windscreen on the Tracer 700GT is manually adjustable.
Meanwhile, the Tracer 700GT’s bigger sibling, the Tracer 900, gets a small cosmetic makeover for 2019, now coming in a Nimbus Grey paint scheme with red contrasts. The previous colour option, Tech Black, is carried over into the new year.
Another sports-tourer that Malaysian riders will not have the opportunity to buy is the Tracer 900GT. Like the Tracer 700GT, the Tracer 900GT is a premium upgrade over the base model.
In this case, the Tracer 900GT comes with fully-adjustable suspension with gold-anodised forks, hard luggage and TFT-LCD instrument panel. There are three colour options for the 2019 Yamaha Tracer 900GT – Nimbus Grey, Midnight Black and Phantom Blue.
In Malaysia, the 2018 Yamaha MT-09 Tracer is offered at a price of RM53,681. The 2018 Yamaha MT-07 currently retails at RM34,533 while the MT-09 goes for RM48,920.

HLYM..Pls. bring in this model..it is a more direct competition to the versys and I think give the versys a run for it’s money and the Malaysian motorcyclist deserve more varieties of models to choose from.
Hong Leong Yamaha seriously has issues with their heads for not bringing all these into Malaysia market, so much juice to squeeze from these especially with the new GT lineup, damn sad lo weih
This can easily break versys market if price below 40k. HLYM should offer this bike in Malaysia. Sadly enough, Kawasaki is more proactive in their offerings in Malaysia.
Any off road rider now enjoying this Tracer 700 more than the Tenere 1200.
Try to make the switch but it takes forever to decide
