Audi e-tron GT concept revealed before official debut

The Los Angeles Auto Show kicks off tomorrow, and ahead of the main event, Audi is previewing its e-tron GT concept – not to be confused with the e-tron Vision GT – with a series of official photos. This five-door “coupé” is similar in vein to the A7 Sportback, but the e-tron moniker suggests a full electric drivetrain.

From the looks of these images, the concept is covered in a stylised camouflage, much like how the e-tron SUV was before its eventual unveiling. Whether it will keep this disguise or shed it for its official debut remains to be seen, but we’re guessing it’s the latter.

Still, the pictures give us a good look of what will likely be Audi’s second e-tron model. The fastback profile is almost identical to the A7, albeit with an even more low-slung roofline suggested by the slimmer side windows. Where it distances itself from its petrol-powered sibling is in its bespoke front and rear ends.

At the front, there’s a black “mask” that surrounds the intricate headlights and the trademark “singleframe” grille, while separate air intakes sit at the corners of the bumper. Another pair of vents are located aft of the front wheels that measure a massive 21 inches in diameter.

Moving to the rear, Audi’s full-width tail lights get a new chevron design; there’s also a massive rear diffuser with an illuminated e-tron logo. Funnily enough, the e-tron GT doesn’t get the e-tron SUV’s fancy optional side-view cameras, instead sticking with a pair of regular door mirrors.

No details have been revealed just yet, but we were told during the unveiling of the e-tron earlier this year that the e-tron GT will be underpinned by the J1 platform used for the upcoming Porsche Taycan. As a point of reference, the Taycan features a 600 hp electric powertrain that can do 0-100 km/h in 3.5 seconds.

It is also capable of a range of more than 500 km on a single charge, with support for fast charging, allowing it to regain 100 km of range after being plugged in for just four minutes. Whether or not Audi’s concept will mimic these figures, we’ll have to wait for the start of the show to find out.

Every car manufacturer is moving fully to EV. But in Malaysia, MAI still blur. Proton also still blur.

Europe will be fully EV by 2035. That is only 17 years more.

Then when nobody buys Proton because they sell outdated cars, Proton say Malaysians are not patriotic.
