W177 Mercedes-Benz A-Class tuned by Lorinser – A250 Green Series makes 258 hp and 420 Nm

The new W177 Mercedes-Benz A-Class is already a fairly sporty-looking hatchback – especially in halfway-house AMG A 35 form – but there are those who’d want an even more garang look. A good thing, then, that German tuning house Lorinser is more than happy to help with a limited edition tuning package of its own.

Just 25 units of the Green Series will be built, using the A 250 as a base. The front gets a new skirt attachment for a more aggressive appearance, helped along by a rear diffuser-style insert. The latter provides space for the quad stainless steel tailpipes, attached to a Lorinser sports exhaust system. Finishing off the look are striking green 19-inch RS8 alloy wheels in a turbine design, wrapped in Continental tyres.

The changes go more than skin deep, as a reprogrammed ECU has freed up some horses from the M260 2.0 litre turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine. Power has increased from 224 hp to 258 hp, while torque has seen a sizeable jump from 350 Nm to 420 Nm. This means that the family hatch makes the same amount of horsepower as the larger C 300, but with 50 Nm extra.

Given that a stock A 250 is able to sprint to 100 km/h in just 6.2 seconds, the Green Series should make for a peppy hatch, even though it won’t be quite as quick as the 306 hp AMG A 35. Lorinser has yet to release pricing for the whole pack, but it has detailed the cost of the individual items, including the €690 (RM3,250) front splitter, €540 (RM2,540) air intake trim, €680 (RM3,200) rear diffuser and €1,090 (RM5,140) exhaust.
