G29 BMW Z4 M40i tuned by G-Power – 500 hp, 700 Nm!

G29 BMW Z4 M40i tuned by G-Power – 500 hp, 700 Nm!

Time does indeed fly, because we’re already in the second half of 2019, which means the G29 BMW Z4 is almost a year old. Currently, the range-topping roadster is the M40i, and it’ll probably be a while before we get to see the full-blown M model.

For those who feel underwhelmed by the M40i’s 3.0 litre straight-six engine, which by the way produces a healthy 340 hp and 500 Nm in stock tune, you’ll have to turn to G-Power for a quick fix.

The German aftermarket tuner has introduced four different performance upgrades, with the top version producing 500 hp and 700 Nm of torque. The upgrades comprise of a bespoke software mapping called Performance Software V1, which in its base tune boosts performance by 40 hp and 30 Nm. The more focused V1 S version brings power up by 70 hp and 80 Nm (410 hp, 580 Nm).

Both ECU upgrades are achieved without reinforcing engine components. For the next stage, G-Power will install flow-optimised downpipes with a sports catalytic converter to go with the Performance Software V2. This brings output up to 450 hp and 640 Nm of torque.

The most hardcore tune of 500 hp and 700 Nm requires extensive modifications to the exhaust system and turbocharger, while a larger intercooler is deployed to aid cooling duties. G-Power claims that those figures will be more than what the actual Z4 M could make. Customers can also choose to remove the electronic speed limiter, which allows the roadster to go past 300 km/h.

For your peace of mind, G-Power claims that all the standard diagnostic and motor protection units remain untouched. The modified engines are also said to be within safe operational and mechanical limits, so as to not overstrain them.

Finally, the G-Power Z4 M40i gets a slight aesthetic enhancement in the form of 20-inch twin five-spoke G-Power Hurricane RR forged alloy wheels, shod with 245/30 rubbers up front and 275/30 tyres at the back. The alloys are forged from aircraft-grade aluminium, and is said to be the lightest in their class.

Better go for Z4. Why? Supra only design for exteriors but when comes to interior for Supra, they actually copied from BMW Z4 including Toyota also get BMW engine and fit into Supra. That’s why BMW is more successful and always working hard. Unlike Toyota, they always never work hard.

The same kit will be made available in the Supra but called the TRD and sold at higher price to cover for TRD sticker cost on the parts.
