Bentley Flying Spur First Edition debuts, limited units

Bentley has revealed the Flying Spur First Edition, a special model with a limited production period of 12 months. The exact build capacity wasn’t mentioned, but as per Crewe traditions, the car can be personalised to suit discerning customers’ tastes.

The car features a number of add-ons, such as the First Edition exterior and fascia badge, as well as a Union Jack flag with the numeral 1 in the centre (found inside and out). The First Edition Bentley Winged Emblems can be embroidered into the headrests, and the package includes non-illuminated, First Edition treadplates. A set of 22-inch Mulliner Driving Specification alloy wheels are thrown into the mix, too.

Bentley also said the Flying Spur First Edition comes with some of the most luxurious interior and exterior features, which are usually optional, as standard. In addition to the single veneer options, one gets to pick from a range of dual finish veneers that adds contrast over the Grand Black inserts. Of course, the retractable Flying B mascot is present as well.

At the heart of the Flying Spur is a hand-built 6.0 litre W12 twin-turbocharged TSI engine that produces 635 PS and 900 Nm of torque, which accelerates the 2,437 kg limo to 100 km/h in 3.8 seconds. Top speed is 333 km/h. Power is channeled to all four wheels (it has active AWD) via an eight-speed ZF dual-clutch transmission. Nothing is changed here, by the way.

Standard kit include the Bentley Rotating Display, Bentley analogue clock, cabin trimmings with diamond knurling, and LED mood lighting with up to seven colours. A large panoramic roof can be specified too, and complementing it is the colour-matching Alcantara sun blinds that deploy electrically.

On the safety side of things, customers can add on the Touring Specification that includes lane assist, night vision, head-up display and adaptive cruise control with traffic jam assist.

The Flying Spur First Edition was unveiled at the Elton John AIDS Foundation Gala, where it will be auctioned in support of the fund-raising charity at the inaugural Midsummer Party, Picozzi’s Villa Dorane. The event will take place on July 24, with Sir Elton John and David Furnish playing as hosts.

In conjunction with Bentley’s Centenary year, and to support to Gala, Bentley is inviting the new owner of the Flying Spur First Edition to create their own bespoke and completely unique car through Bentley’s exclusive Co-Creation Luxury Service, offered only to a tiny selection of clients.

A member of Bentley’s Design Team will work with the owner, either at the company’s headquarters in Crewe, or in their own home, to create a truly personalised Flying Spur from a wealth of available exterior and interior options. Production will commence at the end of the year.
