QUICK LOOK: Honda Civic facelift – now with Sensing

The upcoming 2019 Honda Civic facelift will be launched in Malaysia soon, and ahead of its official introduction the refreshed tenth-generation FC was previewed last weekend at Honda Malaysia’s “Road to 900k Grand Finale” event at Bukit Jalil.

Externally, changes are minor – the front grille’s wing extension is now finished in piano black, and the styling of the front bumper has been revised, with the black trim on the lower section now integrated into a single panel running across the width of the unit. At the back, there’s new garnish on the rear bumper, and a boot spoiler has been added.

There’s also a new 18-inch alloy wheel design, but it’s only available for the 1.5 TC-P variant, which is the range-topper in three variant line-up, the other two being the 1.5 TC and base 1.8 S. Both the 173 PS and 220 Nm L15B7 1.5 litre VTEC Turbo and 141 PS and 174 Nm normally-aspirated 1.8 litre SOHC mills seen previously continue on unchanged, and are paired with an Earth Dreams CVT.

The big news is the inclusion of Honda Sensing – the automaker’s suite of safety and driver assistance systems are made up of Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) with Low Speed Follow (LSF), Forward Collision Warning (FCW), Collision Mitigation Braking System (CMBS), Lane Keep Assist System (LKAS), Road Departure Mitigation (RDM) and Lane Departure Warning (LDW). Also going on is a LaneWatch camera side-camera system.

People will still buy New Corolla because of price is cheaper than Mazda 3 but expensive than Civic because of CBU that cost RM128K to RM136K, got Toyota Safety Sense, got wireless charging, real blind sunshade and more features and even aftersales service is good. Second of all, Mazda 3, Mazda 3 is most expensive C-segment than Corolla and Civic which cost RM140K to RM160K because of CBU plus aftersales service is not good but at least, Mazda 3 has lots of features and safety wise and more reliable even though using SkyActiv-G Engine. But, for Honda Civic, even though aftersales service is not good but at least it is cheaper that cost RM110K est. because of locally assembled plus got Honda Sensing and turbocharged engine.

Toyota Corolla, Mazda 3 and Honda Civic are game changing sedans that are sold worldwide while the so called game changing Prevé is already game over

Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) with Low Speed Follow (LSF). This perform starting above 30km/h. Unable to use it at traffic jam. But it’s better than nothing.

Toyota corrolla Dynamic Radar Cruise control allow Full Speed from 0km/h onwards and auto stop and Go. Can use at traffic light/traffic jam.

Both are good Japanese and On Demand Vehicle. Both King and Queen have features even BMW330i don’t have. Excellent.

Mazda’s MRCC operates from 0 km/h too. Stop and Go.

    • ACC and LSF can function during traffic jam and < 30kmh. From total stop, just push the + or ~ button for it to move.

        it sounds like <30km/h.
driver can push the pedal button/brake button for it to move.

But dont be too proud of Japanese product. S Class started this sensing in 2013. Conti cars have started double clutch long time ago but now only Japan want to follow but cant reach quarter mili seconds gear shift of double Clutch like VW. Goodluck Jakon guy feeling the tech 6 years after. they introduced it much earlier.

Don’t care the output, as almost similar

Yes, Paultan pls do follow up on the missing rear strut bar.. Previously it was said to improve the handling.. And for the face-lift are they compromising that to have folding seats?

You should wait for ckd Facelift X70 or coming X50. If you closely, honda build quality is quite poor. The bumper gap cannot be accepted, honestly Mazda, Toyota or Proton finishing looks better. Honda should improve their build quality….

Improved handling? Man…even with that and rear independent suspension, Civic’s handling is the worst among the Corolla and Mazda3.
