Malaysians are in general a car-crazed lot and we also love our Protons and Peroduas. Now that the 2022 Perodua Alza and Ativa Hybrid has been launched, people are eager to look forward to what’s next.
It looks like their targets are set on a possible B-segment SUV larger than the Perodua Ativa that is currently being called the “Perodua Nexis”.
What are these Perodua Nexis photos that have gone viral?
The source of the hype is a set of renderings by computer graphics renderer Idiyaz Baharuddin, who rendered a set of photos of what a future Perodua B-segment SUV could look like.
He gave it the Perodua Nexis name as it is one of the trademarks that Perodua registered in April 2022. The other trademark registered alongside the Perodua Nexis was Perodua Traz.
Is Perodua planning a B-segment SUV?
Word is that yes, Perodua is planning an SUV larger than the Perodua Ativa and at the moment it is given the codename Perodua D66B.
It will be built on the DNGA-B platform, which also underpins the 2023 Toyota Vios, 2022 Perodua Alza and 2022 Toyota Veloz.
Is the Perodua Nexis a confirmed name for the D66B?
The Nexis is not a confirmed name, it is the name that was chosen by the computer graphics artist for the renderings that went viral.
Perodua has trademarked various other names that it has not used yet such as Perodua Traz, Perodua Eliana and Perodua Atrivia.
Even so, the name of the new Perodua SUV could be none of these previously trademarked names and instead a future name that has not been trademarked yet.
What Daihatsu or Toyota model will the Perodua D66B be based on?
There are currently no B-segment SUVs based on DNGA launched in any market yet.
The following are some B-segment SUV models that Toyota are selling. Could any of them end up becoming a Perodua?
This is the Toyota Yaris Cross, which recently won the 2022 World Urban Car of the Year award. It is pretty good looking and it looks like the rendered Perodua Nexis takes some inspiration from it.
However, this is an expensive “first world” Euro/Japan market model that is based on TNGA-B instead of DNGA-B, so it is not likely to become a Perodua.
If you really like this, we have seen recond units on Mudah for RM139k.
2) Toyota Urban Cruiser HyRyder
This is B-segment SUV sold in India, which implies it could be cost effective enough to be sold as a Perodua, but it is neither based on DNGA-B or TNGA-B.
Instead, this is a product for the Indian market based on a JV with Suzuki, sharing a platform with the Suzuki Grand Vitara.
Neither of the two products above seem like they could form the base for a future Perodua B-segment SUV.
Will Perodua take the lead on the DNGA B-SUV project?
Since there is no DNGA-B SUV in existence yet, could Perodua be taking the lead on the development? After all, it did so with the Myvi and the Bezza. That could be one possibility.
The other could just be that a future DNGA-B Yaris Cross simply hasn’t been revealed yet. This Yaris Cross will only share a name with the European TNGA-B Yaris Cross but be built on DNGA-B instead, and be part of the Yaris hatch and Yaris Ativ (Vios) sedan family in Thailand, and eventually a Perodua in Malaysia.
Would you be in the market for a Perodua SUV larger than the Ativa?

Can already say goodbye to x50
Msians can’t wait for another homegrown P2 car. Ini kalilah !!
“Homegrown” but badge is Toyota? Yr home in Japan isit? But this Malaysia wor…
Still long way to go…
Alza waiting 12months
Myvi waiting 8months
Veloz yet to launch
Vios (DNGA) going to build there too
Better buy Honda no waiting
Get discount Get before CNY
Buy honda with aftersales and quality for honda fail, spare parts for honda also failure, design also fail, spec also fail
And who said honda have no waiting, Honda is even longer than perodua
There’s a reason why the waiting list is so long. It implies people prefer P2 over the rest.
There’s a big stash of Veloz already in the Bukit Raja factory if you drive past which was shipped from Perodua Rawang. It’s only a matter of when they want to release them (probably letting Perodua to get even more booking for Alza). And I’m sure their Toyota Bukit Raja factory will be retool accordingly to build these newer DNGA platform based cars.
Yup correct, that’s why we Don’t Need Geely Anymore (DNGA) !
Yea no thanks. When yr in the kampung, that X50 is far more accessible. Try recharging from kampung house rickety wiring system.
Lol whut? Y u so funny talk about EVs when ppl talking about ICE vehicles?
For time being ICE is still relevant IB Malaysia or even UK as majoritet of us has no access to Wall charging if they live IB flats snd Teh issue of EV ownership still very much less practicall unless you’re Americans or Singsporeans. Thus electrification at Perodua stsrting with Ativa hybrid cerrtainly feasible yet reslistic option
Or just let them coexist? Why must we kill one for another? You prefer monopoly over healthy competition?
Belum launch lagi pun. Bentuk no….X50 is better. In term of power no…X50 is better. Gear..DCVT..no..DCT is better…
If 1.0 and above cc turbo with 4 cylinder would definitely consider it. Beat the x50, come on P2.
Hopefully perodua can come out with a 1.5L turbo Or 1.5L hybrid bench mark HRV or X50 as the opponent. We can see a lot of demand for this type of B segment SUV.
Perodua Nexis, for taxis
Do one variant with the 1.2EV.
They can release B, C, D segments all they want but if the design is like the lame Ativa, save it. Also, better dun put the stupid dashcam to it. A sub-hundred dashcam from Lazada last longer.
you are salesman for Dashcam?
Perodua dashcam is decent, the same one from Toyota too. Both has long warranty.
Its not the same as Toyota. But then Toyota one also sucks. Dun just look at the casing and assume they are the same.
Go any P2 SC and ask them about dashcam sent back for warranty claim. Then go to any of Myvi/Alza fb page and see the complaints yourself.
Geely holding supporter?
If Perodua add another car around RM60k-80k range, there would be too many overlap with Ativa, Alza & Aruz. Malaysian buyer at sub-RM200k generally is more concerned about getting the most out of their budget and would not mind the body-type if it fits their purpose (i.e. Alza vs Aruz). Therefore, Perodua might be offering 2 cars over to the same buyer, which is not cost efficient for a budget car manufacturer.
Unless it is designed to compete at a different price point to a different segment of buyer, the increase of sales will not be enough to offset the cost of adding a new model to the production line.
similar price point also can have variety of choice.
E.g:
Proton X50 and X70 price overlap.
TOYOTA Vios, Yaris, Veloz, Rush price overlap.
Honda City, City Hatchback, BR-V price overlap.
At Japan, Jazz and HR-V price overlap.
this is an outdated mindset where cars must be categorized by price. Look at bigger picture. Price should not be a deciding factor when choosing a car. There should be MORE choices in the same price bracket. We malaysians have been “bawah tempurung” for too long. Mindset needs to change. More choices for the same price, why not? thats even better for consumers to have more choices. Why force yourself to choose a car just because it is in budget? adoi
a b segmen sedan is much more proper
That would kill off their mother’s company toyota vios if let say rm20k cheaper, and toyota may soon fade out from malaysia market. As now the x50 already impacting big on the rm80~90k japanese b segment market.
So perodua keep rebatching a hatchback, a “7 seater” mpv, then another “7 seater” mpv, then an A segment suv but not yet a proper 1.5cc b segment sedan…and force added handicap eco idle to left some spaces for potential yaris and vios buyers.
Feels bad. Our homegrown P1 and P2 are just serial rebadgers at this point.
Did you know how EXPENSIVE it is to create and design a car from scratch? Proton and Perodua doing this because they want to save cost for RnD. And it’s not full rebage, my aunt work for P2 and did you know some Toyota cars like Rush(Aruz’s twins) design are from Perodua and not Toyota? They’re not rebadge, but more like teamwork. That’s what most people misunderstood
I need an ativa with the same specs as the high spec alza 2022. I am 64 years . I need asa 2.0 with 360 camera, adaptive speed control. 1.5 turbo hybrid. Blinded shot monitoring. Wireless charging Android auto. Can pay upto rm 85k.
A b segment 1.5 bezza or myvi sedan please. 1.5NA engine 4at gearbox, no need eco idle, asa, abc, xyz…etc.
Congrats Idiyaz. Your render are way better than what theopilus can come out for the D66B
So Ativa is a failure.
Udara Asia now everyone can fly kite
Pee2 now everyone can buy a coffin bergerak
Pee1 now everyone can pretend it’s Volvo technology Malu apa ..
Go build your own car la Mat Sapu & Foo Ling YewJV
Sangat sempurna lagi mengujakan..
Perdua please reduce car price in Malaysia
I LOVE PERODUA CARS
Reading the comments here gave me a big impression that P2 fanbois does exist! Why bash x50? You think P2 is only competing with P1, like some juara kampung? If P1 closed business, what benefit does you, as a P1 owner has? Monopoly is bad for consumers. Stop being blinded by brands. Look at bigger picture. Healthy competition and variety is always good for everyone.
Absolutely yes! Been looking for a small SUV with affordable price and good size. But hopefully the price will not be as high as X50
Look excellent but you have to for a year or more before you can get one.
Just stretch the Ativa a bit to give bigger volume for luggage space or third row seats!
