We’ve seen the upcoming Proton eMas 7 (stylised as e.MAS 7) – the carmaker’s first EV – wrapped in camo, and have even tested its Geely Galaxy E5 twin, so what’s the next milestone in the electric SUV’s pre-launch campaign? 10 points for those who answered ‘interior’.
The cabin of the Proton eMas 7 will be revealed at the paultan.org Auto Car Expo (ACE) 2024 show, which will take place over the weekend of October 26-27 at the Setia City Convention Centre (SCCC). The showcar will be a pre-production unit and it will still have exterior stickers as camouflage, but everyone will be able to touch, feel and try the eMas 7 out for size.
The Proton eMas 7, which is the right-hand-drive version of the Geely Galaxy E5, isn’t a 100% rebadge job. Proton says that it has performed plenty of local testing and had even requested and implemented 49 additional testing processes – some of which are unique to Proton – to ensure the eMas 7 meets both local and global standards. These include tests for the SUV’s load performance and stability control.
The eMas 7 also has a maximum water wading depth of 400 mm to provide additional protection against floods – this is higher than the Geely. The depth test was simulated at Proton’s proving ground in July, where the company also conducted a speed bump test to simulate actual Malaysian road conditions. Apparently, an issue was found during the test and has since been fixed.
Tanjong Malim also claims a revised suspension tuning for the Malaysian market. The setup is stiffer than Chinese specifications, delivering better ride comfort and body control.
The Proton eMas 7 is set to be launched later this year and is expected to offer the same powertrain as the Galaxy E5. The Geely is offered with a single front motor producing 218 PS (160 kW) and 320 Nm of torque, which gets it from 0 to 100 km/h in 6.9 seconds. There are also two battery options – 49.52 kWh with a CLTC range of 440 km and 60.22 kWh with up to 530 km on a single charge.
Head down to ACE 2024 for a closer look at the Proton eMas 7, and be among the first people outside of Proton R&D to sit in the EV SUV.

Just be honest, it is Geely made.
Revise it’s rear end (relocate it’s license plate recess from rear bumper to tailgate) for distinguishing itself from its original model (Geely EX5).
actually they redesigned the rim cover as well LOL!
Price start at around RM70k in China. Wonder how much premium proton gonna charge to change out the logo….
