Meanwhile in the Kuala Lumpur city centre, flash floods have affected Jalan Parlimen and Bukit Aman, reported Sinar Harian, while the Malaysian Highway Authority (LLM) has advised that the SMART tunnel is fully closed to traffic as of 11:30am for stormwater management. Continuous rain has also triggered a landslide in Taman Melawati, The Star reported.

As before, plan your travels especially in this time of increased rainfall, and plan your journeys if you are, or will be in flood-prone areas. Use alternate routes or delay travel in order to not put yourself in harm’s way, and try not to drive through floods, regardless of your type of vehicle.

In the event of inevitable stranding, special perils coverage is a crucial add-on to one’s vehicle insurance policy, and while there is added cost, it is minor compared to repair costs that would otherwise not be covered for natural disasters and other incidents classified as acts of God.
