Also unveiled at the Kuala Lumpur International Mobility Show (KLIMS) is the Proton X50 Sport Edition. As the name suggests, this variant gives the B-segment SUV a racier look, with a bodykit leading the changes.
The kit, which consists of a front splitter, side skirts and rear spats, is different from the R3-designed version seen before, here finished in red. It joins a stealthy aesthetic afforded by new black paint and a gloss black finish for the grille surround and tailgate garnish (previously satin chrome), as well as a red stripe along the car’s shoulder line.
Also fitted are new 18-inch ten-spoke gloss black alloy wheels, fitted to a lower-spec variant of the original Geely Binyue (the X50 usually gets the top-spec two-tone rollers on the Premium and Flagship variants). Finishing off the look is a chrome Sport Edition badge on the tailgate, with the car also gaining door sill scuff plates and a Qi wireless charger.
The Sport Edition is based on the upper-mid-spec Premium model, meaning it uses the port-injected 1.5 litre turbocharged three-cylinder engine, producing 150 PS and 226 Nm of torque, mated to a seven-speed wet dual-clutch transmission. It also means the car loses out on the Flagship’s driver assistance features such as autonomous emergency braking, adaptive cruise control and lane centring assist.
Proton has yet to reveal if the car will have a limited run, nor has it provided the price. It has confirmed, however, that the Sport Edition will be sold to the general public at a later date. Expect the car to carry a slight premium over the, um, Premium’s RM101,800 sticker price.

Proton bolted on the Geely Binyue’s Pro’s rims which they didn’t even used it for the RC version that was launched earlier, which would have been more proper at least rather than just saving it up and releasing another “Kit”.
The car is already more than 4 years old while the new 1.5L TGDi 4Cyl engine has been sold in China since 5 years or older come on don’t let us wait for the new Renault + Geely engine but obviously you are doing it to recoup the 3Cyl engine manufacturing here.
DCEO already told that vendors have committed certain volumes so they cant do the facelift, hence versions like this will still be going to be launched to keep vendors happy since its still using the same mould/casting from 4 years ago
Heck, Proton might even launch “X50 Final Edition” if they still cant meet vendors volume.
P1 knows Evs and hybrids from China have exploded in Bolehland lately.
There r so many launchings every forthnight, that thousands of orders have been diverted away from P1.
So,as usual lah..all these SPECIAL EDISI ,but this time the market has changed.
At say 110K…one can have so many offers from Chinese suvs, mpvs.
Proton…if u dont improve, matter of time ,your market share will drop to 10%.The other 10% will be gobbled up by Chinese automotive giants.
No TGDI engine for this? Strange.
Opps, the design obviously copied from Chery Omoda 5 Black Colour
This is just like proton wira tengku mahaleel days
Ada red accent boleh la. Kereta impian warga SjkC
An SA told this one is an additional 10k on top of the existing Flagship. I felt like it’s a steep price but then the SA there said it also comes with the 4cyl. I think the 10k gap makes sense then.
