Peugeot 408 sent for patrol car evaluation with PDRM

The Royal Malaysian police (PDRM) has received two units of the Peugeot 408 that have been loaned out by Peugeot Malaysia for evaluation purposes to see if it is suitable to become an addition to the force’s patrol vehicle fleet.

As with all other vehicle trials, the two 408s – which are Allure specification examples – will undergo the usual run of field tests. The loan period was not disclosed, but usually the timeframe for such activities is somewhere between three to six months, after which the cars are then returned to the provider without cost.

Should it eventually come about, the Peugeot 408 would mark a departure from the usual – at present, the standard PDRM patrol vehicle fleet is primarily made up of the Honda Civic, which is now in service with the force in its current 11th-gen FE guise, but of which the largest chunk consists of the 425 units of the FC-generation 1.8S model that was received by the PDRM in June 2020, following on the initial use of the pre-facelift back in 2016.

To recap, the Peugeot 408, which made its Malaysian debut in April last year, is powered by a PureTech 1.6 litre turbocharged inline-four cylinder petrol engine offering 218 PS at 5,750 rpm and 300 Nm of torque at 2,000 rpm. Drive is transmitted to the front wheels via an eight-speed automatic transmission.

Later cannot catch criminals because cars easily breakdown and wait long time for spareparts. Good excuse for polis not to do their jobs.

Remember that Pug is now under Berjaya, and VT is best buddy crony with PMX that they were willing to sue Muhydeen for canceling their PH1.0 aligned PM7 direct award crony deal to manage the Govt fleet cars back then. So this is just another crony shitshow deal. Start 1-2 cars then then whole fleet will be unreliable Pugs. Criminals will have a field day escaping.
