Proton eMas 7 sales reach 797 units in March – 1,853 deliveries YTD, remains Malaysia’s best-selling EV

Proton has announced that its eMas 7 remains Malaysia’s best-selling EV, with March sales reaching 797 units. With cumulative deliveries of 1,853 units in the first quarter of the year, the SUV’s market share is forecast to be 30%.

“We want to thank our customers for their unwavering support, and confidence in our Proton eMas 7 as well as trust that we can deliver an ecosystem that lets them enjoy their electrified driving experience, said Proton New Energy Technology (Pro-Net) CEO Zhang Qiang. “This achievement encourages us to improve ourselves to deliver products of higher quality and give our customers a better ownership experience.”

Launched in December, the eMas 7 is priced at RM109,800 for the base Prime and RM123,800 for the Premium; a RM4,000 discount for the first 6,000 buyers drops those figures to RM105,800 and RM119,800 respectively. That attractive pricing has led to a price war as its rivals, the BYD Atto 3 Ultra and Chery Omoda E5, received cuts of their own to match the Proton, so it remains to be seen if it will retain its sales crown.

Both variants are powered by a front motor producing 218 PS (160 kW) and 320 Nm of torque, getting them from zero to 100 km/h in 6.9 seconds. The difference comes in the Aegis short blade lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery capacities – the Prime gets a 49.52 kWh pack with a WLTP-rated range of 345 km, while the Premium’s larger 60.22 kWh pack enables it to travel up to 410 km on a single charge.
