Proton eMas 7 previewed in Singapore ahead of launch – re-entry after over a decade, from RM566,100!

The Proton eMas 7 continues to make its way to export markets, with the electric SUV having been previewed in Singapore at The Car Expo 2025 at Singapore Expo this past weekend. The national carmaker said it is re-entering the island nation’s market after an absence of over a decade.

Its appearance down south comes just over a month after the eMas 7 was launched in its first international market of Nepal. Proton is being represented in Singapore by Vincar, a parallel importer that also distributes GAC Aion vehicles in the country.

Further information was unearthed by local automotive portal Sgcarmart, which reported that the car will be launched in August and, thanks to outputs of 218 PS (160 kW) and 320 Nm, be categorised as Category B. This means its COE will be more expensive than that of a Category A vehicle (limited to 150 PS, or 110 kW).

However, the previously-reported Founder’s Edition, limited to the first 99 units, will come with a S$20,000 (RM65,100) discount, essentially negating the difference in COE categories. The car will start from a whopping S$173,988 (RM566,100).

That’s over five times the Malaysian starting price, but Singapore gets one over us in the colour choices, with Moyu Black joining the usual palette of Platinum Silver, Turquoise Green, Slate Grey, Quartz Rose and Lithium White. Over here, Proton generally reserves black for vehicles used by the army, which presumably explains its absence on our palette.

From the looks of it, the eMas 7 will be offered in Singapore in sole Prime trim, as evidenced by the smaller 18-inch wheels (the Premium gets 19s). This means it will likely come with the smaller of the two available Aegis short blade lithium iron phosphate (LFP) batteries, with a capacity of 49.52 kWh delivering a WLTP-rated range of 345 km. With DC fast charging power capped at 80 kW, topping up the pack from 30 to 80% takes 20 minutes.

“The debut of the Proton eMas 7 in Singapore marks a significant step in our international expansion and our commitment to bringing high-quality, technologically advanced EVs to the region,” said CEO Li Chunrong. “We are confident that the eMas 7, with its compelling features and suitability for urban environments, will resonate well with Singaporean drivers as the nation embraces electric mobility.”
