Alfa Romeo Giulia Veloce open for booking in Malaysia – 280 PS/400 Nm 2.0T, 8AT, LSD, RM400k estimated

Yup, Alfa Romeo is officially back in Malaysia (again)! After City Motors in the ’60s and ’70s, Milan Auto in the ’90s and Sime Darby Auto Italia from 2005 to 2013, the legendary Italian carmaker is now represented by DLSB Partners Sdn Bhd, an independent private distributor under Atlantis Motor Group, which is the sole Peugeot and Leapmotor importer in Malaysia.

A showroom and 3S centre is expected to open at Rhapsody Square, TREC KL in December, and there’ll be Penang and Johor Bahru outlets in the future. Unfortunately, tonight’s not a launch yet – both Giulia sedan and Stelvio SUV are open for booking in Malaysia at an estimated price of RM400k, and final prices will be revealed in January.

Born (or should we say reborn?) in 2016, the compact-exec sports sedan has been around for a long time, and we’re sure you’ve read and watched all those glowing reviews about how great it drives. This is the 2023 facelift, fully imported (CBU) from Italy’s Cassino Plant, and it looks every bit as good as it did all those years ago. Those ‘3+3’ adaptive matrix LED headlamps certainly help.

This is an Alfa after all, so let’s start with its heart. Our car will be in Veloce trim (just one step down from the full-fat Quadrifoglio), so under that long bonnet sits a 2.0 litre turbo four-cylinder engine that sends 280 hp at 5,250 rpm and 400 Nm at 2,250 rpm to the rear wheels through an eight-speed ZF auto. The century sprint is done in 5.7 seconds and 240 km/h is the top speed.

The 19-inch telephone-dial alloys hide four-piston fixed callipers up front and single-piston floating callipers out back; tyres are 225/40 front and 255/35 rear. There’s variable electric power steering (with a quick 11.8:1 ratio), a mechanical Q2 limited-slip diff, 50:50 weight distribution, a lightweight carbon-fibre driveshaft, front double wishbones and rear multi links.

Inside, you’ll find a manual rake- and reach-adjustable steering wheel with shift paddles, 14 Harman Kardon speakers, a wireless charging pad, an 8.8-inch touch-screen with Android Auto/Apple CarPlay, a 12.3-inch customisable TFT screen and sport leather seats with dark grey stitching. In terms of safety, there’s Level 2 ADAS including ACC and lane keep assist. Salivating yet?

When the platform is THIS good, it doesn’t need to be replaced. When 3 generations of M3 are benchmarked against the Giulia, and the Giulia still provides more road feel and steering sharpness compared to the M3, you know you’ve hit the right formula and don’t need to fix what’s already superior.

Cars are not smartphones. When a manufacturer constantly replaces a platform, it means the platform is crappy and disposable.

          Low-value low-income low-information consumer mentality.

Bentley Bentayga – built on a platform first introduced in 2012, adapted for use till the present.

All current Lexus vehicles – based on TNGA derived platform that was first introduced for the 2017 model year

Mazda vehicles with Skyactiv tech – uses Skyactiv platform from 2012 to the present.

Subaru vehicles – uses SGP platform first introduced in 2016 and still in use till the present.

This type of low-value low-information mentality probably ranks the latest Xiaomi watch as superior to a Grand Seiko.

Perhaps the longest most syok sendiri justification ever heard. This is next fan level. When there’s no improvements it’s called complacency, the difference with Alfa is it comes with a compounded cost to its buyers.
You’re basically saying their complacency represents the sweetspot of automotive technology, perhaps perpetually.
That’s the dumbest thing I’ve ever ever come across someone saying.

M3 this? Who is talking bout alpha nowadays? Who even want one? Look at the street, i didnt see 1 here, not 1 in China, or Tokyo, or korea, or Australia, or USA. Just go abroad and spend enough time u ll notice. So? And that guy who said CBU good? I driven 3 CBU audis all problematic after 2 years due to degrading hardwares and rubber seal cause by Msian hot climate. Their hardware do notnwithstand or tested for here. CKD use locally produces parts and rubber and tested here. After changing to CKD BMW and benz no more problem even after 10 years aside wear and tear. This car is just ancient and price high but inferior to the 330i in real life. U watch too much car reviews. Get real in real life. If you haven own and driven 1 dont talk like u have experience. Wannabe mind set

Get ready to bungkus lol. Such an old car that has just been facelifted numerous times. You should learn how to penetrate the market dominated by the 3 Series and perhaps C-Class. And now you got a plague of Chinese cars, lol best of luck to ya

If the CKD version of these cars are priced higher than the outgoing 3er and C class, you shouldn’t have even thought of entering the Malaysian market.

This is a major problem for M40 making less than RM10k per month while working 60 hours a week. But for those who make over RM300k-500k per month, how is this even an issue?

      • kongkeydont on Nov 24, 2025 at 9:58 am

if alfa rameo target customer market is those who make 300k-500k per month which is the T1, also dont forget T1 have many other choices, then alfa have already failed and sure path to bankruptcy.

Too difficult to take care of. A high maintenance Giulia. I will buy one used at maybe 150k after a few years. Don’t mind living with this but definitely weeks in a year stuck in the workshop, thousands on parts replacemnt underneath it all it’s still a FIAT and Fiat Is Always Trouble
