PLUS Malaysia has announced that the Automated Awareness Safety System (AWAS) camera calibration works will be carried out between KM432.7 and KM430.4 (southbound) on the North South Expressway (NSE) between Bukit Beruntung and Sungai Buaya, This will be carried out tonight, Wednesday (November 26) from 11pm until 3am the following morning.
As with the calibration works for the AWAS setup that was carried out last night on the KM265.3 (Southbound) stretch between Nilai and Seremban on the North-South Expressway, highway users are advised to adhere to the instructions of all traffic signage, as well as instructions by PLUS when passing through the affected area.
The recently updated hardware for AWAS emerged in August 2024, and transport minister Anthony Loke stated in January this year that the roll-out of the point-to-point camera system was to prevent drivers from merely slowing down in front of a speed camera, but to slow down within a certain distance.

does it work at speeds above 499kmph, because thats how fast we will be driving once yangwang u9 becomes available in malaysian market
thanks to transport minister loke for finally strictly enforcing the speeding law, none of our former ministers had managed to do it
Damn it. That’s what been happening the past 10 years or so.. speeding cars suddenly slowing down at AES spots like Ayer Keroh and Serdang. Then disappear again. This could be good, and better to give a higher penalty ie RM1,000. How about that?
Then: We do not want AES. Rakyat will suffer. Encourage rakyat not to pay AES summons.
Now: We change name from AES to AWAS. Add more camera.
Outcome: We can collect more money to give project to MP’s husband. Build more kiosk. We are laughing all the way to the bank.
Later they will tell us the cost of maintenance around rm300m n come out another new system.
Don’t forget the costs to pantau and kaji before that happens
