The Genting Highlands road network will begin trials of a road charge system from April 2, 2026. The trial will be conducted at two entry points; Genting Sempah, and the Gohtong Jaya roundabout, stated Lingkaran Cekap (LCSB), the authorised operator of the Genting Highlands road network.
No road charge will be imposed for the use of Jalan Genting Highlands during the trial, however permitted road users are still required to tap their payment cards, including Touch ‘n Go and debit or credit cards, when passing through the toll gantry, according to the operator.
All vehicles must continue to comply with the existing rules and regulations governing the use of Genting roads, along with any additional requirements introduced from time to time, to ensure smooth traffic flow and safety, said LCSB.
“The trial is intended to test the functionality and smooth operations of the road charge system before its full implementation. It supports LCSB’s commitment to maintaining safe, reliable, and uninterrupted passage for permitted users to Resorts World Genting and attractions, and the surrounding Genting Highlands area,” the road network operator said.
Separately, a document by Lingkaran Cekap stated that “in consideration of the services and contributions rendered by public servants and/or personnel of recognized agencies and institutions, collectively referred to as authorised public servants or APS, Lingkaran Cekap grants an exemption from the payment of road charges for Jalan Genting Highlands to all eligible APS.”
Each applicant is permitted to register one Class 1 vehicle only for the purpose of obtaining exemption from the road charge, and the applicant shall be currently in service and providing service to one or more of the agencies or institutions listed during the validity period of the exemption:
- SK Sri Layang
- SMK Sri Layang
- Institut Amiruddin Baki
- Balai Polis Genting Highlands
- Balai Polis Gohtong Jaya
- Balai Bomba dan Penyelamat Genting Highlands
- Klinik Desa Sri Layang
- Pejabat Daerah Kecil Genting Highlands
- Pejabat Daerah dan Tanah Bentong
- Pejabat Cawangan Majlis Perbandaran Bentong (Cawangan Genting Highlands)
- Pejabat Setiausaha Kerajaan (SUK) Negeri Pahang (Cawangan Genting Highlands), and
- Any other government institution located in Genting Highlands identified and named by the state government from time to time
In order to enjoy the road charge exemption, the registered applicant’s vehicle shall use the designated lanes for license plate recognition (LPR) at the road charge stations, the road network operator stated.
In November 2025, a statement issued by Resorts World Genting confirmed that Genting Malaysia Berhad will soon impose charges on vehicles entering Jalan Genting Highlands. On November 17, 2025, the Pahang government said that it hopes that these charges will take into account the interests and welfare of local residents.

The Genting company was formed in 1965, and during the next 5 years, it had progressively received approval for the alienation (pemberimilikan tanah) of up to 12000 acres of land from the Pahang state government and up to 2800 acres of land from Selangor state government. It had also started work on the construction of the access road from Genting Sempah to the peak of Mount Ulu Kali, which is the present day location of the Genting resort, and that access road is now known as Jalan Genting Highlands.
Therefore, it is no surprise that this Genting company has publicly declared its full ownership of Jalan Genting Highlands as a private road on its Resorts World Genting website, without any fear of legal action by the Pahang and Selangor state governments.
That hill belongs to Pahang sultan. It does not belong to Genting.
The Pahang state government had already transferred the ownership of 12,000 acres of land to Genting, and this could only be done with the consent of His Royal Highness The Sultan of Pahang. If you question this, by all means, the public is waiting for you to bring this to the courts.

how to believe u when u also lied about the cause of the 2021 Kelana Jaya LRT trains collision. this genting company doesn’t need any licence, permit or concession from federal or state govt to collect toll because it is their own private road. so far, it’s been reported that they only need approval from the bentong municipal council to construct their toll booths.

Make sure to collect toll from motorcyclists. Motorbikers convoy hogging the genting road too often.
When implemented, it will be another nail in the coffin. Already the casino business is losing out to online gambling and casino cruise ships. Lim Kok Tay should instead raise funds via rights issue, etc. Then built trams from the foothill that provide free transport for those who gamble. Just my 2 cents.
