X5 in 2026 — what's new
The G05 LCI BMW X5 carries into 2026 with the xDrive40i M Sport and xDrive50e M Sport as the current Malaysian range. Attention has shifted to the 2027 G65 successor, which adopts Neue Klasse styling and X-shaped front lighting. That next-generation X5 is set to span petrol, diesel, plug-in hybrid, EV and hydrogen powertrains, while the iX5 EV uses an 800V architecture and is quoted with up to 845 km of WLTP range.

Which variant to buy
Most buyers should take the RM470,800 xDrive40i M Sport. It is RM24,000 cheaper than the xDrive50e M Sport, retains AWD and automatic transmission, and produces 308 hp from its 2,998 cc petrol-hybrid powertrain. Pay RM494,800 for the xDrive50e if plug-in hybrid driving suits your routine and its 502 hp output matters. Both are five-seat M Sport models, so check the equipment list before assuming the extra spend changes the cabin specification.
