Yup, the BMW X6 Sport Activity Coupe will soon be getting a little brother, and BMW’s Auto Shanghai 2013 concept car world debut will be a close to production preview of the upcoming BMW X4. It’s so close that BMW is already confirming where the production car will be built – at the Spartanburg, USA plant where the rest of the X range is built.
The formula is the same, add a number to the model name and give it coupe-like sloping roof. The Concept X4 also gets the latest BMW design features such as LED headlamps that meet the exposed sides of the kidney grilles, but the concept is immediately recognisable as an evolution of the X3’s design. There’s also a nice pontoon-like curve over the rear wheels.
The BMW Concept X4 measures 4,648 mm long, 1,915 mm wide and 1,622 mm tall, with wheelbase of 2,810 mm, the same as a BMW X3. Those concept car wheels you see are 21 inchers.
We’ll be back with a live gallery of the concept from Auto Shanghai 2013, which we will be covering in person on the ground, so for now you’ll have to make do with the studio pix below.
