Official photos of the Chevrolet Volt have been revealed but somehow the team behind it have gone all narcissistic with the product photography, at least for these initial set of images that have found its way onto the internet.
The production version of the Chevrolet Volt looks like a more futuristic and aerodynamic version of the Chevrolet Cruze and although you can see many design cues carried over from the Chevrolet Volt Concept, the final version looks curiously more like a muscular buffed up version of the Kia Forte.
The Volt reverses the whole concept of a hybrid car that we know today where an electric motor assists an internal combustion engine when needed. Certain hybrids also have an electric-only mode but what is common is there are times where the internal combustion engine also drives the wheels.
Things work differently in the Volt – the car is driven by the electric motor, which draws its power from batteries. The internal combustion engine (a 1.4 litre normally aspirated inline-4 gasoline engine) is only used to generate electricity to recharge the batteries when needed. The battery is also charged via methods like brake energy regeneration as well as plug-in charging.
This is the fuel efficient car that is supposed to save General Motors from a deep, deep sea of red in the near future. Will it? Look at more photos after the jump.

Looking to sell your car? Sell it with Carro.
looks like honda civic only. or looks like honda hybrid car too.
Is this about the car or some people I don’t know (minus Bob Lutz of course)?
Great! killed the 100% electric EV1 in 90’s and now created a hybrid in 2008.Did anyone watch Who killed the electric car? i just watched it and recommended everyone here to watch. The movie proved that if not for joint conspiracy between oil giants and US GOV, this car should be exist long time ago..not when only GM going to bankrupt.
Why can’t I even get a good look at the car itself!? It looks like a Scion tC to me.
Lol… it seems they panicked when everyone saw the leaked video and photos from Transformers 2. Some staff must have thought “to heck with it, just release the photos online”. But I admit it still looks better in purple with the sports rims… :D
All electric oh yeah~
the EV1 was revolutionary, this is just desperation. and the pics just shows the idiots who’s running the company…guilty!
ummm is this supposed to be a gay car? Pictures of old men…ewwww
What’s up with the hype of this car? Its just another hybrid that takes years of costs saving before it pays itself off. Perhaps the long terms yes but short term no. Of couse the carbon footprint is less but this technology is still not viable at the moment. That’s not to say manufacturer’s should pursue it. However, it just fails to get my blood boiling or make my heart skip a beat.
Give me Civic Type-RR and my blood boils. Now that’s a car i get excited about.
Alternatively, any one else can enlighthen me about this car?
are they running out of fund? Why letting old man exhibit with a new car? New Fashion to attract ppl?
Weird?!
Hikaru: Apparently, GM hopes this car is going to help make electric vehicles mainstream… ;p
Haha..model use old2 men…
Hikaru,
This car is not for people like you. you’d get your kicks looking at other stuff for sure. this car is about future technologies and such that could one day make it into all production models. not about acceleration times or even top speeds.
but yeah, i think they have gone overboard in blocking the car (hmm, intentionally) with boring old men.

“Give me Civic Type-RR and my blood boils. Now that’s a car i get excited about.”
why must civic type RR??honda too good??haha..kid always stay kid
i can only see the men…..
But the car looks ok…..
Those are the people who designed the car? No claims like will be a serious value for money car like Honda said recently
It’s supposed to show the car.. but they show old mans.. All pic are man in front of the car.. What a shame..
this car is like the euro accord, only worse
And what happened to the Volt’s, long wheelbase with a short front and rear overhang, it just doesnt look like road-hugging concept car, we not only want great engineering but great design too, the production version looks too much like todays overdose of cookie cutter designs, please, get back to the drawing boards if you want to save GM.
