The 2011-specification colour scheme which Ford’s Fiesta RS WRC car will wear for this year’s FIA World Rally Championship has been unveiled at the Autosport International 2011 show in Birmingham.
The official colours take over from the eye-catching blue and grey livery – designed by Ford of Europe’s design team – seen in the preview version of the car at the 2010 Paris Motor Show last September.
Team driver Mikko Hirvonen and Ford of Europe motorsport chief Gerard Quinn unveiled the new livery for the car, and Ford’s official WRC squad for 2011 also confirmed its new name and logo – it will compete as the Ford Abu Dhabi World Rally Team.
Title partner Abu Dhabi – which has been a team partner since 2007 – will have its distinctive branding featuring strongly in the new-look livery, and Emirati driver Khalid Al Qassimi will drive a third Fiesta RS WRC in support of team-mates Hirvonen and Jari-Matti Latvala. The team will also be sponsored by Castrol, another partner since 2005. Branding for its Castrol EDGE range of advanced synthetic oils will feature prominently in the car’s livery.
The full specification of the car – which is developed by Ford of Europe and technical partner M-Sport, and based on the Fiesta S2000 rally car – will be available at the beginning of February. The 1.6 litre turbocharged, four-wheel drive vehicle will make its championship debut in Rally Sweden, the opening round of the series, on February 10-13.

the new generation of WRC cars with the 1.6 turbo will on average make 300hp, and 350nm of torque. They will also no longer have shifters on the steering wheel, just like hte S2000 cars.
