Hyundai-Sime Darby Motors (HSDM) has been named Distributor of the Year 2010 by Hyundai Motor Company (HMC) at the recent 2011 Global Distributors Convention held in Banff, Canada. The award, according to a HMC spokesman, is well-deserved as HSDM has demonstrated its ability to increase Hyundai’s market share in Malaysia within a short period of time through its innovative services and creative marketing activities.
The award was presented to Dato’ Lawrence Lee, Sime Darby’s Executive VP, Motors Division and Dennis Ho, MD of HSDM by Vice Chairman of HMC, Eui-Sun Chung.
“I am very proud of the team at HSDM and the milestones that the company has achieved through its efforts to change the brand value and positioning of the Hyundai brand,” said Dato’ Lee, who noted that the consolidation of Hyundai operations in Malaysia and the 2010 launch of the new Sonata and Tucson were milestone events that contributed to the “dramatic sales growth”.
MAA figures show that Hyundai sales had increased by more than 38% from 2009 to 2010. For the period from January to May 2011, more than 5,400 Hyundais have been sold, representing a 36.7% year-on-year growth. Currently, HSDM has a network of over 100 dealerships across Malaysia and more than 10 3S centres. The company aims to expand the network further.
In conjunction with the award win, HSDM is giving out service discount vouchers with a minimum spend when customers visit an authorised Hyundai service centre from 1 August till 31 October 2011. Call HSDM’s Customer Care Line at 1300-13-2000 for more info.

Good achievement by Hyundai-Sime Darby Motors (HSDM), bring in more models to fight in this handicap NAP market.
What is the forecasted pricing for upcoming Hyundai Avante to be launched in fourth quarter 2011
USD 28000 for Avante 1.6 litre and USD 44,000 for Veloster Turbo on the road here in Hanoi , Vietnam,
Veloster looks sharp and very European , just arrive this week.
congrats to HSDM, hyundai is gaining acceptance in our market dominant by japs….
although they are still far from topping sales charts nonetheless they convincingly steal market share. more models and higher spec car please.
the last time i remembered looking at a hyundai, it was so much ah beng cheap add ons that made the car uglier than it really is plus sime products such as Auto Bavaria has really bad customer service..best dealer should be Lexus..
Please bring in Hyundai i20 and ix20.
Offer better spec and cheaper price (such as 6 air-bags, dual-zone automatic air-con, reverse camera, and many more attractive features…..)
Sure the sales will boom up to another level….

Thanks Paul for the update, was about to send my Hyundai to Glenmarie SC nxt week, might as well wait for august (mine an old hyundai, already past its warranty period but still send to SC..good services so far equiv to my Japs branded car)
The good achievement is not due to Sime Darby effort, but rather the new radical design of win sculptured in all hyundai line-up today.
Mazda also had radical designs in the early 2000 years .. but under a not so agressive distributor the vehicle was not accepted by malaysians……
buying cars other than the widely popular ones will almost always land you in trouble in terms of spare parts availability when you claim insurance with your car that is more than 5 years old….
aiks, my post of yesterday disappeared? what happened Danny?
Sorry kent, we're trying out new comment systems and there may have been some glitches
