BMW has announced a new electric vehicle brand for the Chinese market called Zinoro, which will be launched at the Guangzhou Motor Show in November.
The sub-brand’s first offering is reportedly based on the BMW X1 (perhaps the particular X1 that was spied last week), and will be built at BMW Brilliance Automotive’s Tiexi plant in Shenyang. The companies indicated that exports of Zinoro-badged vehicles to other markets – if the brand takes off – is under consideration.
Zinoro, which is supposed to mean “honouring promises,” won’t sell its vehicles through the BMW network, but through its own channels, allowing clear differentiation between its offerings and the BMW i3 and i8 EVs that will eventually go into that market.

Very scary days ahead. Already many parts in the BMW car are already fully 100% Made in China. That is why the current fleet of BMws always breakdown and stall. Where got in the 80s and 90s BMW got so many problems? Those days, it was pure German engineering. Soon, on the quiet with all these integration and collaboaration, more parts of the BMW car will be Made in China. Some Made in China but sent back to Germany, so, it can be legally claimed as Made in Germany. Don’t be surprised one day, our Proton will be far higher quality than BMW!
that is why i stick to my old GERMAN Beemer
BMW liek to do all these stupid things. Most important issue is their warranty. It is the only palat car company in Malaysia offering ONLY 2 years warranty. Nearly all others have moved up to 5 years. Even Mercedes gives double the warranty ie 4 years.
Yes, BMW Malaysia have ZERO confidence in their own products. Too scared to give more than 2 years.
In KL, there is no glamour driving C-class saloon or equivalent. Go for E-class at least, or 5-series.
