It’s not always that a convertible launches first before its fixed top sister, but the Jaguar F-Type is one such example. Jaguar’s latest sports car made its debut at last year’s Paris Motor Show, before an example stopped in KL en route to Australia earlier this year. A coupe version of the sexy roadster is up next, and this is proof.
Wearing camouflage designed to look like a soft top, this F-Type Coupe mule has been snapped putting in the laps at the Nurburgring, the go-to track for carmakers coming up with something sporty. This is the second time we’ve seen this Jag on test, and differences include a new set of multi-spoke turbine-style wheels and a pop-up rear spoiler, visible when doing high speeds.
The coupe’s defining styling feature would be that sloping roofline that extends way back, giving it a nice fastback shape, as seen on patent filings that surfaced in May. Expect it to share the roadster’s V6 and V8 engine choices, mated to a ZF eight-speed automatic. There should be an R model in the works as well.
