Datsun to reveal new model in Indonesia on Sept 17

datsun go sedan render 01

Datsun has announced plans to debut an all-new model in Indonesia on September 17. The born-again carmaker says the model has been “developed specifically for Indonesia,” and will cost under Rp 100 million (RM28,330).

It will be the first of two models to go on sale in the country in 2014 (the other must be the Datsun GO hatch). Datsun says it has been designed to “meet the needs of the new generation of aspirational customers (“risers”) in Indonesia.” Could it be a sedan version of the Datsun GO (Theophilus Chin speculative rendering pictured)?

Nissan Motor Indonesia recently appointed PT Mitra Pinasthika Mustika Tbk (MPM) as its dealership partner in preparation for the launch of the Datsun brand in the country next year. Unveiled in July, the Nissan March/Micra-based Datsun GO is the reborn carmaker’s first product. Known target markets include India, Indonesia, Russia and South Africa.

Rony what era are you living in? I’m confused. This looks like a funky little budget car that will fit in with everything else.

    • This Datsun design still is way ahead against Toyota. So Toyota is 100 years behind?

    • People would not mind about design if they can get one for lowest price possible.

Added with fuel economy, this could be the first choice at developing countries like India and Indonesia.

As usual, late entry into Malaysia is expected, and one-airbag policy would still be implemented by Tan Chong.

Why not simply rebadge Dacia? Or is Dacia too good for Indonesia…?

There is no Eco sedan in Malaysia below RM45k.
