Datsun redi-GO Concept mini SUV debuts in Delhi

On your marks, get set, redi-GO! The new-again Datsun brand has just unveiled its first concept car at the Delhi Auto Expo 2014. Named the Datsun redi-GO Concept, it previews how the company’s mini crossover would look like, if it ever decides to build one.

For now though, the redi-GO is just a styling exploration, combining a compact five-door hatchback’s practicality with a rugged SUV stance. It has very short overhangs, paired to a crossover-style raised body with rising twin character lines running across the sides.

Modern LED daytime running lights and taillamps adorn the cheeky looking car, while Datsun’s large signature “D-cut grille” dominate the front end. There’s no sunroof to be found – the blacked-out roof with its distinctive tessellated pattern showcases a future personalisation opportunity.

Those dark chrome wheels are only 15-inch items, which goes to show how tiny this car is. Datsun, however, claims that it offers ample interior space with a 2,350 mm-long wheelbase. The increased ride-height, meanwhile, allows it to cope with challenging road surfaces, while giving the driver a commanding view of the surroundings.

There are no plans of putting the redi-GO Concept into production yet, but Datsun says that if it were to do so, the mini crossover would be priced to target established compact hatchbacks, i.e. “be within reach of the first time buyer.” So what do you think, interested?

  • Very interested.

Mini SUV. More durable, yet fuel saving.
I believe there will be enough space for the rear boot too.

Datsun promised Low price. I want.

People dont buy not because of PRoton’s look.

      Main Criteria = Reliability.

if not, Kia Hyundai can get sales easily too.
but apparently looks does not just make it right.

It’s how much people willing for a car for that low reliability.

Kia Forte was selling good, because got looks, comfort and size at low price. Kia Cerato, No More Good Selling. No people willing to pay such high price for low reliability.

  • This is nice. However, my heart belongs to Datsun 120Y. It is a beautiful car.
