This is our first glimpse of the Infiniti QX30, a compact SUV being developed to take on the likes of the Mercedes-Benz GLA, Audi Q3 and BMW X1. Though it is extremely camouflaged, initial impressions are pretty good with a rather aggressive front end teased.
As a competitor to the earlier mentioned models, the QX30 will have to appeal to style-conscious buyers who seem to make up for most of the market share in this segment. From the side, the QX30 doesn’t seem like it rides too high and certain elements of the taillight give it a very Mazda CX-5-ish vibe.
We’re hoping the visible, sloping hump at the rear end is just the result of too much padding from excessive camouflage because without it, we could be looking at a very expressive rear design. Overall though, one certainly hopes that Infiniti keeps things tasteful and not risk overdoing the aesthetics.
Technical bits are sketchy at best but the car is reported to ride on the same Modular Front-wheel drive Architecture (MFA) platform as the Mercedes-Benz GLA. Engine options could also come from the Daimler umbrella with a 2.0 litre, four-cylinder found in the Infiniti Q50 and Mercedes-Benz C-Class.

I think this new model will look good judging by the lines it has. I still haven’t seen many QX50 on the road here so maybe we can see more of these instead.
