KL road closures for Thaipusam and Nike 21k Run

KLites and Klang Valley residents, take note. Selected roads in our capital city will be closed gradually beginning this Sunday (February 1) for two events – the annual Nike We Run KL 2015 event and the Thaipusam chariot procession.

KL traffic police chief ACP Mohd Nadzri Hussain said that for the Feb 1 run, roads affected would be Jalan Petaling, Jalan Maharajalela, Jalan Kinabalu, Jalan Hishamuddin, Jalan Raja, Jalan Tuanku Abdul Rahman, Jalan Dang Wangi, Jalan Ampang, Jalan Sultan Ismail, Jalan P. Ramlee, Jalan Raja Chulan, Jalan Perak, Jalan Kuching, Jalan Loke Yew, Cheras Roundabout (U-turn), the Dewan Bahasa roundabout and Stadium Merdeka. Roads will be closed from 5am to 10am.

As for the Thaipusam chariot procession, roads would be closed in stages from Feb 1 to Feb 4. The procession will begin on Feb 1 at the Sri Maha Mariamman Temple in Jalan Tun H.S. Lee and proceed along Jalan Sultan, Jalan Pudu, Jalan Tun Perak, Leboh Ampang, Jalan Ampang, Jalan Munshi Abdullah, Jalan Dang Wangi passing Sogo, Jalan Raja Laut, Jalan Sri Amar, Jalan Tun Razak (the U-turn in front of the Fire and Rescue Station), Jalan Ipoh (Jalan Salleh), Jalan Kovil Hilir, Lorong Kovil Hulu, Jalan Perhentian, Jalan Ipoh and Jalan Ipoh Batu 5, to Batu Caves.

Nadzri also said that several roads would again be closed during the return procession on Feb 4 starting at the Sri Subramaniam Temple in Batu Caves and proceeding along Jalan Ipoh Batu 5, Jalan Ipoh, Jalan Perhentian, Lorong Kovil Hulu, Jalan Kovil Hilir, Jalan Tun Razak, Jalan Ipoh, Jalan Raja Laut, Jalan Dang Wangi, Jalan Munshi Abdullah, Jalan Ampang, Leboh Ampang, Jalan Tun Perak and Jalan Sultan, Jalan Hang Kasturi, Jalan Hang Lekir, to the Sri Maha Mariamman Temple in Jalan Tun H.S Lee.
