Long before the Fisker name was plastered onto the Karma plug-in hybrid vehicle under the Fisker Automotive banner, it stood on the bonnet of models (as Fisker Coachbuild) such as the Fisker Latigo CS and Fisker Tramonto – a reinterpretation of the BMW 6 Series and Mercedes-Benz SL, respectively, of the time.
Now, it would appear as though Henrik Fisker is going back to what he does best with the unveiling of the ‘Thunderbolt’ concept – a one-off styling exercise based on the Aston Martin Vanquish. Revealed at the 2015 Amelia Island Concours d’Elegance event, the concept sports both an exterior and interior makeover.
Up front, the angular lower air intakes are the first few clues to the transformation while a honeycomb front grille is flanked by thinner head lamp assemblies. The bonnet itself boasts a massive “power dome” that runs the entire length, vertically.
In profile, the car has been dropped by a total of 15 mm and wears twin five-spoke 21-inch alloy wheels wrapped in performance tyres. Elsewhere, redesigned side skirts provide a tauter look while the ‘deep-cut’ side strakes have been reworked to gel better with the overall silhouette.
At the rear, a wraparound window melds seamlessly into the tinted glass roof while thin, “blade-like” LED tail lamps are featured. Lower down, twin exhaust outlets are integrated into the reworked diffuser. The entire bodywork of the one-off concept is made from carbon-fibre.
Inside, changes are less dramatic with Panasonic‘s 11.6-inch Curved Control Screen taking centre stage on the console. A skeleton chronograph developed in conjunction between Henrik Fisker and Maurice Lacroix features below said screen. Finally, twin champagne bottle holders are to be found between the rear seats.
As this is purely a cosmetic experiment, the car carries forward the same mechanicals as the Aston Martin Vanquish that it is based on. “An extremely limited” run is touted and prospective clients are advised to contact Galpin Aston Martin for further information regarding production details.

One gotta feel for Henrik Fisker… He is a man on a desperate…
His company went bust… everyone now know the DB9 is the good job of Ian Callum which Fisker was able to stole some credit for…
Damn…
I thought for a brief moment that Aston Martin is selling firecracker named Thunderbolt….hihihihi
Carrying champagne in a car is a bad idea especially when the driver does hard turns and fast acceleration.
