With the completion of the East Coast Expressway Phase 2 (LPT2) project, the push to get the next extension stretch is underway. Bernama reports that the Terengganu state government is hoping that the federal government will green light the building of the East Coast Expressway Phase 3 (LPT3) from Gemuruh to Jertih. Currently, the 184 km-long LPT2 links up to Kg Gemuruh from Jabor.
The state’s Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Ahmad Razif Abdul Rahman said that the the project, expected to cost RM1.4 billion, should be considered a priority given the increase of LPT2 commuters, including those from Kelantan.
“If the federal government agrees, the state government is prepared to borrow RM1.8 billion that is required from the LPT2 project cost (still under discussion) for the LPT3 project,” he told reporters.
With regards to LPT2, he said the state government is set to claim a concession payment of 40% from Plus Malaysia Berhad for toll collection on LPT2, pending approval from the Prime Minister. He added that aside from providing good economic returns for the state, LPT2 will also benefit local trade considerably at every rest and recreation stop along the stretch.

Definitely more beneficial than the much hyped KL Sing HSR. Cost much less and mobilize more people.
LPT2 tiada petrol station, tabuli ini maciem..
Lucky for the people in Semenanjung. Just finished another highway, already planning for another one. 50+ years joining Malaya, still no highway in Sarawak.
Envy you people.
Totally agree with you. Me from Terengganu.
Sarawak, Sabah and Terengganu have been contributing billions of ringgit to the country yet these 3 states are among the least developed.
No shopping mall in KT. Only 1 in Kerteh, 1 hour away from the state capital. Lots to mention if we start.
Get your facts right bro. The area in Gong Badak do have Tesco and also Mydin Mall. In fact, Kerteh compared to the population in KT, KT is much bigger. The Store and Giant also there. The people in those said ‘mundur’ or ‘daif’ states, need investors to cretae more jobs. With this LPT ready, more jobs opportunity can be provided since there is no rail connection from the main branch to Terengganu.
mydin mall itu consider mall ke? hahahaha
brader.. Mydin, Tesco and Giant are not mall.
Itu hypermarket or supermarket laa sayang.
Mall tu koman2 macam Mesra Mall, ade butik2 kat dalam.
Setakat butik cap ayam dalam mydin ngan giant bukit besar tu buat haper!
don’t make me start with Kelantan. part of semenanjung, but …
Paya bunga square just recently opened
.i went for a sushi king treat yesterday.
