AKLEH users to enjoy 5% discount from September 9

Toll

Motorists who ply the Ampang-Kuala Lumpur Elevated Highway (AKLEH) are set to enjoy a 5% discount starting this Wednesday (September 9) to December 8 – said discount only applies to drivers of Class 1 vehicles who pay electronically (Touch ‘N Go, SmartTAG) at the Datuk Keramat toll plaza.

According to Bernama, quoting a release by highway concessionaire Projek Lintasan Kota (Prolintas), the rebate is “given in conjunction with the implementation of the full electronic toll collection (ETC) at the highway.” Redemptions can be claimed after a month following the last transaction at the AKLEH customer service centre, which is open from 7 am to 10 pm daily, including public holidays during the rebate period.

Users are also advised to purchase their pre-loaded Touch ‘N Go cards for RM5 while stocks last – cards are currently being sold at AKLEH cash lanes. Also, SmartTAG devices are available for purchase at a price of RM99 from tomorrow onwards.

The discount coincides with the announcement of the AKLEH, DUKE and SMART expressways switching to an electronic toll collection (ETC) method starting from tomorrow onwards. The affected toll plaza along the AKLEH highway is the Datuk Keramat plaza while the one along the SMART tunnel is located in Sungai Besi. As for the plazas on the DUKE highway, the affected plazas are Batu, Ayer Panas and Sentul Pasar.

The discount is nothing compared to what the toll operators are raping Malaysians. Malaysia is the only country in the world where per km of highway cost over RM100 million to build (without land and houses acquisition)

And this is despite using super cheap Bangladeshi labour.

The toll concessionaires cry to the Government they spent so much to build the highway and the Government gives them 50 year contracts and a clause that allows them to increase rates every few years.

Even in Western first world countries, where labour is expensive, it hardly cost a few million ringgit to build 1KM of highway

Worst incentive mechanism ever. Stinks of insincerity.
Just lower the price at the gate la.

Very insincere deal. Want to give discount but with the roundabouts to claim the few ringgits I’m sure most of the rebates will remain unclaimed.
