Prasarana, operator of Klang Valley’s LRT and Monorail lines, has announced that it will be providing technical support to Thai MRT operators for the development of the latter’s new Bangkok MRT Purple Line. Six drivers and five controllers from subsidiary Rapid Rail Sdn Bhd made their journeys across the border yesterday to be stationed with their Thai counterparts for a period of four months.
“The request came from Marubeni-Toshiba JV, which is the company responsible in delivering the systems for Bangkok Purple Line. Their request was for manpower support for its Site Integration Test. Four of our train drivers left for Bangkok yesterday for the purpose. We are proud and honoured to offer services to our fellow international partners especially from the ASEAN member countries. In ASEAN, we are part of a big family,” said Rapid Rail CEO Ahmad Nizam Mohd Amin.
Besides the above, Prasarana also recently formalised a collaboration with MRT Jakarta, where Rapid Rail will share its experience in the planning and operations of urban rail lines with the latter. The company also successfully spearheaded the operations of the Al Mashaaer Al Mugaddassah Makkah Metro Southern Line for this year’s haj operations, its first international assignment.
The Bangkok MRT Purple Line is currently under construction and is due for completion before the end of 2016. Serving commuters in the Bangkok Metropolitan Region and Nonthaburi Province, it will become the second MRT-operated line there and the city’s fifth rapid transit line.

Malaysia Boleh! Malaysia Gemilang! Malaysia Nombor 1 di dunia! Thailand, who build a MRT line and commissioned it BEFORE Malaysia do, seek help from Malaysia. That shows Malaysia technical and technology superiority over Thailand and Indonesia. This is not an Asean diplomacy sandiwara, this prove Malaysia is very capable. Don’t play play.
Luckily its jepunis who invite them go support. otherwise, bashers here will says it crony, lawatan sambil belajar, their taxpayer money gone, corruption, ini semua salah Najib
Marubeni-Toshiba JV (seller) requested some technicians from Malaysia to be a part of technical team to fully test the systems. Hundreds of them work together, Thais, Japaneses, Germans, etc., not only 4 or 6 or 10 Malaysians, to accomplish the project. You said as if all the technicians are from Malaysia. Instead of saying “Malaysia technical and technology superiority over Thailand and Indonesia”, it should be “It’s good for them to learn Heavy Rail system in Bangkok comparing to Light Rail ones.”
Well done Prasarana, we can further strengthen our relationship with both Thailand & Indonesia with offering of our expertise in Public Transportation sector mainly in rail services, and I will also hope we can learn from Japan in their expertise regarding rail safety and punctuality..please set your goal to become like the japanese.
