10 toll plazas to go fully cashless by January 13, 2016

2015-npe-pantai-dalam-toll-plaza- 001

In a bid to further ease traffic at toll plazas throughout the country, the Malaysian Highway Authority (MHA) has confirmed that 10 more toll plazas will adopt the new cashless transaction strategy beginning January 13, 2016.

A new report by The Star confirmed that the affected toll plazas are located along the Maju Expressway (MEX), New Pantai Expressway (NPE), Cheras-Kajang Highway (Grand Saga) and the Kemuning Shah Alam Expressway (LKSA).

Specifically, the toll plazas include:

  • Salak Selatan (MEX)
  • Putrajaya (MEX)
  • Seri Kembangan (MEX)
  • PJS2 (NPE)
  • PJS5 (NPE)
  • Pantai Dalam (NPE)
  • Batu 9 (Grand Saga)
  • Batu 11 (Grand Saga)
  • Seri Muda (LKSA)
  • Alam Impian (LKSA)

The news report also mentioned that in order to ease the transition from cashless to full-electronic payments at the toll plazas, highway operators will provide 24-hour Touch ’n Go sales and make sure that its staff is present to help road users.

In the future, do expect more toll plazas to adopt the electronic payment-only system, with PLUS already confirming that all 92 of its plazas will make the switch before the end of 2017. Of the 92, 14 have already been converted to the electronic toll collection (ETC) system. Further down the road, PLUS is set to implement an RFID gateless gantry toll system starting in 2018.

The MEX Salak Selatan toll plaza has got only one lane for SmartTag (for direction out from KL), during peak hour it is much faster to use touch&Go than this. They can’t even get basic thing right.

the crony companies running Touch and Go untung. Just on interest alone, they make millions per day because consumers have refilled RM50 in their cards. They hold hundreds of millions and interest alone works out to few million per day

this is how crony works. Lie to the people it is cashless and faster flow of traffic but in actual fact mau untung from the bunga

Good effort. I have already seen the impact of going cashless at some tolls, traffic transition is much smoother now. I hope people don’t bash this positive effort, because objectively it is a good thing. We shouldn’t complain that the country is not progressing when we ourselves can’t even embrace simple steps like this

Its about try and error.

Saya ingat.

Cara bayaran tunai patut diteruskan. Bukan hak syarikat tol dalam menentukan cara bayaran!
Cash should be the default payment method. If they cant provide cash facility, close shop la. Tutup tol terus flow trafik lagi smooth.

    1. When you have it cashless, please demolish the cash booths so that can have more lanes for payment.

    2. Please have proper guideways to get to the correct payment lane. The toll plaza is so wide, people are confused where to go and there are people who speed all the way right uptill the toll gantry. Please be considerate. Not everybody use that toll everyday. Some people are not sure where to go and then end up like the Camry at LDP toll.

    3. Please put the guideways in proper precedence. A bad example is SMART toll plaza before. The T&G and Smart TAG lane merge into one lane. But the cash lane has 2 lanes before merging into the T&G and Smart TAG lane. This causes the T&G and Smart TAG lane to be so long and slow. What is the point of using the electronic method then? Sometimes, I just use the cash lane but pay with T&G and is much faster.

    4. Please put and distribute the lanes more evenly. Sometimes you come out of the highway at the exit and you have to cut across 8,9,10 lanes to the SMART TAG lane and the other side doing the opposite to the cash or T&G lane.

Seriously, these people don’t use the highways they build? This is cow sense and absolutely fundamental observation. You do not need professional consultants to propose this kind of things. Hire so many people to sit there and collect toll and dispense tickets. For what? Dispense ticket can be done automatically like any car park in malls nowadays. This is a retarded job and has no economic value.

SMART TAG lane is all good until someone gets stuck at the gantry for unknown reasons?

Heavy tint? Weak battery? Insufficient funds? Masuk wrong lane? Drive too fast?

Also seen many cars tailgating to avoid paying tolls…

    Apa macam? ?

Guys just use TnG lanes, forget the smart tag lanes, every 3 cars it will fail, and please lah enable that the failed smart tag and immediately tag their TnG card and pass.

Not have to wait for tulan face attendant to come and release.

Going cashless does not solve jams becoz many tolls from 10 lanes become 2 -3 lanes still the same…some tolls the Smarttag and Tngo lanes actually wait longer vs cash lane example NPE Sunway…NKVE Subang and Damansara
