Ford Ranger Raptor aftermarket kit debuts in Bangkok

Ford_Ranger_Raptor_aftermarket_in_Thailand-1

Think the facelifted T6 Ford Ranger looks good? Then the Ford Ranger “Raptor” here will be even easier on the eyes. Before you get all excited, do note that the truck you see here isn’t an official Ranger Raptor variant from the Blue Oval – this guy is basically just an aftermarket showcase.

First off, the front of the Ranger features a custom grille, that comes complete with a full-piece bumper finished in a matte black. A custom skid plate is fitted underneath as well. An elaborate airscoop on the bonnet adds a touch of aggressiveness.

While it doesn’t get side skirts, it does receive bolted fender flares fitted along the wheel arches. Down the back, there are smoked rear lamps and a simple custom bumper with a pair of coloured D-rings. Custom Akrapovic twin exhausts are angled to the side.

Noticeable enough are those eight spoke 20-inch rims wrapped in Terrain Master AMP mud-terrain tyres. While not mentioned, that added height seems to be achieved with an aftermarket suspension lift kit.

This particular truck is based on a standard Thai-spec Ford Ranger 2.2 Wildtrak, with outputs of 158 hp and 385 Nm of torque. So guys, like the way this kit looks, or is it a bit overdone? Tell us your thoughts below.

Sime Darby auto connexxion should bring in the 2.2L wildtrak instead of the 3.2L. Definitely more sales with the much lower roadtax even at the same selling price.

I went to the showroom to test drive the Ranger. It drives and even parks like a sedan (with lots of torque), which is a positive point for me. The dash looks fresh, but the instruments are still kinda basic, and the 2-airbags is kinda killing it. But what puts me off is the price difference between Sarawak and West Malaysia is too much! RM118k for the 2.2 XLT Automatic? Come on AutoConnexion.

Test drove d 3.2 Wildtrak…its power n torque delivery is just awesome…silky smooth. However d waiting of 7 to 8 mths is a big let down. Why not bring in d 2.2L Wildtrak with aĺl d Malaysia-spec 3.2 Wildtrak features. Sime Darby can do a campaign/survey to check its response n then bring this special edition in. The popularity wiĺl b overwheming despite of d lower in power n torque vs d 3.2 Wildtrak. I for sure will change my booking from d 3.2 to this special edition if Sime Darby Auto make this available.

A nice looking Ranger with all aftermarkets add-on.Hopefully it won’t have problems unlike the new Ford Everest that suddenly burst into flames while being road tested by CarsGuide journalist in Australia on 03/12/15.Most of the components on the Everest are shared with the Ranger.
