SPYSHOTS: 2016 Toyota Fortuner spotted in Malaysia

2016-Toyota-Fortuner-Malaysia-01

The 2016 Toyota Fortuner was recently spotted in Malaysia by reader Dysaclicks. Released in Thailand in mid-2015, local 4WD enthusiasts have been waiting with bated breath for the Fortuner. Since one has already been spotted, perhaps it is due for release soon?

Australia has already received their version of the Fortuner, which comes with a 2.8 litre 1GD-FTV turbodiesel with 174 hp. The Fortuner is also due in the Indonesian market, where it is released in three variants.

In Thailand, the Fortuner comes with three engines, the 2.4 litre 2GD-FTV turbodiesel that pushes out 150 hp at 3,400 rpm and 400 Nm from 1,600-2,000 rpm and the 2.7 litre petrol four cylinder that puts out 166 hp at 5,200 rpm and 245 Nm at 4,000 rpm, with the third option being the 1GD-FTV turbodiesel.

Local rivals for the Fortuner in 2016 are the Ford Everest, Mitsubishi Pajero Sport and Isuzu MU-X. No word yet on pricing or specifications, but what do you think it is? Leave your thoughts and opinions in a comment.

    • Cheaper if you buy a coffin and add wheels. Makes no difference. At least you get luxurious wood trimming

My sources say it will be launched latest by July 2016. Expect 180k+ for the 2.4 one.

In Malaysia, at the price below 400k, brandnew E-class is still the best choice if you can only have one luxurious vehicle. GLC – don’t know yet.

You must really want a large MPV to spend 400k on a brandnew Alphard, which soundproof, comfort and drive are still marginally worse than C-class and Teana. The chassis is neither stiff enough.

Toyota? Have you owned a brandnew Alphard 3.5V6?

Good news that they improved some of the weakness when they produced the latest new generation.

This is why Toyota focus on comfort ride.

Triton has got no ESC but having comfortable rear seats and people still get it without bashing “No VSC”.

This unit is for UMW product training. The new Fortuner is expected on the 2nd half of 2016. The Hilux will be launched first or together with the Fortuner.

My 11 year old Hilux still fetches RM28k.

12 month old Sonata will only get RM25k max.
