More info on the upcoming 2016 Toyota Hilux. This time, it involves the official Malaysian brochure of the pick-up, which was sent to us by paultan.org reader Mohd Aizatenko.

With a local launch debut expected in Q2 of 2016, bookings for the Hilux are now open, with prices slated to start at the RM93,000 mark, according to estimated price list(s) obtained from dealers. The reveal of this brochure also helps us nail down some of the pick-up’s specifications found on the price list as well.

The new Hilux will be offered as a sole single cab variant – 2.4 MT 4×4 – and five double cab ones – 2.4 Standard MT 4×4, 2.4 MT 2×4, 2.4G MT 4×4, 2.4G AT 4×4 and 2.8G AT 4×4. It is already known that Toyota’s new GD turbodiesel engine line-up will feature here in 2.4 and 2.8 litre capacities. However, the brochure does reveal that the AT variants will benefit from Toyota’s new six-speed automatic transmission.

Other bits of info mentioned in the brochure include the Hilux’s revised ladder frame chassis, as well as the safety systems fitted. Only the top-spec 2.8G AT 4×4 and 2.4G AT 4×4 will receive Vehicle Stability Control (VSC) and Active Traction Control (A-TRC). However, only the former gets seven airbags, whereas the latter gets just three, the same as the other variants. Additionally, only the top-spec variant gets automatic LED projector headlamps (with LED DRLs).
