Jeep Grand Cherokee Trailhawk leaked – more rugged

Jeep Grand Cherokee Trailhawk leak 4

Images of the 2017 Jeep Grand Cherokee Trailhawk have surfaced on Jalopnik ahead of its official debut expected to be at the upcoming New York International Auto Show (NYIAS). The more rugged version of the facelifted WK2 is set to follow the footsteps of the Cherokee and Renegade Trailhawk models that provide even higher off-road capabilities compared to the rest of the range.

No official specifications have been revealed just yet, but the photos show that this Grand Cherokee variant follows the usual Trailhawk recipe of matte black bonnet graphics, exposed red tow hooks and grey highlights instead of chrome trim on other models.

Also fitted is a cleaner front bumper design from the 75th Anniversary Edition models and machine-finish alloy wheels shod with what look like higher-profile, off-road Goodyear Wrangler tyres, while inside there appears to be leather and suede upholstery topped off with red stitching. Red Trailhawk and Trail-Rated badges complete the look.

Expect the Trailhawk to feature other off-road-biased features such as a small suspension lift and skid plates, as well as the standard Grand Cherokee powertrains – a 295 hp/353 Nm 3.6 litre Pentastar petrol V6, a 240 hp/569 Nm 3.0 litre EcoDiesel V6 and a 360 hp/529 Nm 5.7 litre HEMI petrol V8, all mated to an eight-speed ZF automatic transmission.

The Jeep Grand Cherokee is on sale in Malaysia, powered by the 3.6 litre Pentastar V6 and priced at RM448,889 OTR without insurance for the Limited trim and RM468,889 for the top-of-the-line Overland. An SRT model with a 461 hp/624 Nm 6.4 litre HEMI V8 is also available, priced at RM698,889.
