Touch ‘n Go – more no-service charge reload locations

TnG-SmartTag

Touch ‘n Go says it is looking into increasing the number of reload locations where card top-ups can be done without users having to pay service charges, The Sun reports.

The company’s CEO Syahrunizam Samsudin said that it was in discussions with business partners to expand its network of top-up locations that did not impose reload fees, which are typically the administrative charges levied by agents or merchants offering reload services.

“To date, we have more than 9,000 reload points nationwide, with 2,000 of them being those with no reload fees imposed. These are available at various toll plazas’ customer service centres, Touch ‘n Go hubs, Touch ‘n Go SPOT, Tesco stores, Watsons, KK Supermart, Guardian pharmacies, selected petrol stations and CIMB automated teller machines,” he told the publication.

“Additionally, we have also introduced the Self Service Kiosk (SSK) that will enable our potential and current customers to easily purchase a TNG card or reload their cards without any charges,” he added. He said the SSK’s are available at selected shopping malls around the Klang Valley as well as KLIA and KLIA2. The kiosks can also be found at some R&R stops along highways.

Useless company. Most of the jams are caused by cards that get blacklisted for no apparent reason. My card got blacklisted a few times. I had to go KL Bangsar South, pay parking mahal mahal and sort the matter out.

Touch and Go is one real crony company. Cannot do anything right. Why blacklist people simply?

That is the commission taken by tng.. The parking operator is not absorbing the cost.

to encourage the usage of TnG and SmartTag,they should give us more rebate not by charging extra

Like or Dislike: Thumb up 24 Thumb down 2
    • Some hiways were giving rebates to switch to TnG (ie Batu 3, & Rasah tolls iinm), oso RAPID is giving discounts for TnG users for trains and busses.

As for charges, its not from TnG but the administrations of the service provider, ie 99 speedmart, 7 eleven, MYOB(?), etc.

If u dun wan pay service charge, go for those listed FOC service like above or in the previous article. I usually go for Petronas at hiway.

RAPID giving discounts ale uto hang.

Still fare hike compared to before December’s increase.

TnG is ridiculous compared to the rest of the world’s cashless system. The others reward you for going cashless, we are penalised for using it by being charged service charge and GST.

That highway rebate? A pittance, and only certain times, during festivals only, absolute BS.

And stupid 10 year life, the card costs RM10. London’s Oyster was £10 fully refundable deposit, plus I can claim back full prepaid balance upon return, efficiently and conveniently.

If TnG card idles for a year, they’ll freeze it, and if balance remains under RM10, they’ll forfeit it. Bloody thieves.

        • U dun see much for RAPID cuz u no frequent user. And this has nothing to do with fare hike. That’s under OPEX.

TnG dun charge GST. If u kena, pls report to LHDN. Service charge pulak is depends on the service provider not TnG. If dun wan pay, use reload at those I mentioned.

10 year lifespan is more cuz the card is no longer reliable, just like why ur credit card need replace every few years and u can transfer the balance to new card. I only agree with u that if card trade-in shud not pay for new card, just need to pay to buy new. TnG oso can fully refund (minus deposit?) if u return the card. Did that once.

For frozen account, just think of it like ur bank account. If u no activity for 1 year, what will happen? Where the remainder money go? If u no problem there, then there is no problem here.

Fully agreed with john posting as the facts are mostly true.
No GST in using or reloading TnG. Only got 3 sen GST on the reload 50sen service charge (50sen is imposed and earned by the reload agent).
Card that expired after 10 years is replace FOC, if i’m not mistaken, and balance can transfer to new card without any transfer charge. Way better than banks that give ATM card for free but charge RM8 per year for it. Cost of ATM card? 10 years = RM80!
Somemore withdrawal at ALL other banks ATMs (3rd party) kena charge MEPS fee (same business concept as TnG reload at reload agents (3rd party), but some TnG reload agents as mentioned in the article didn’t charge 50sen).

And now, if want TnG card balance to be refunded due to whatever reasons, there is no refund fee to be paid. Before got, but now they stop charging.

Card not use after 1 year is charged dormant fee, same practice as banks did to bank account balance. But upon request, this TnG dormant / inactive card balance shall be refunded (after deduct dormant fee) without additional charges.

I’m not trying to make enemy, but tok moh should check the facts before posting. Integrity mesti kena ada.

LRT station used to be a convenient place to topup without service charge, until recently cuz Rapidkl decides to be a jerk! Bodo, not all LRT got Guardian, KK mart to topup for free. And what a way to encourage people to use public transport by inconveniencing them and forced to likely topup at places with service charge. Genious.

GST only 3 sen konon, still leaves ugly odd balance on my account. You think it’s funny and nice la? No such thing with London Oyster, no service charge, no VAT (their GST for you).

Where got free renew, u got use TnG or not? Don’t count promotion or gift by someone else la, by normal mean, would need to buy new card la.

Because you’ve never been humiliated to realise your TnG expired, helding up traffic at toll, you dunno the hassle. London’s Oyster card never expire, kencing rakyat apa?

Bodo deactivate dormant/inactive card. Again, London Oyster never expire. You can bring back the card for souvenir, come back London again in 3 years, with enough balance, straight away use it again. If card rosak, TFL will switch card and transfer balance, absolutely free, at any TFL tube station. That’s convenience for the user. Here, wanna provide for TnG also don’t want cuz wanna pursue own Rapidpass, like flogging dead horse.

Because I got farked by TnG last time, that’s why butthurt by stupidity of this system. My time is too precious wasting layan stupiak shit like this at KL sentral and Bangsar South. Call also no use, can’t resolve shit. You got so much free time, good for you la.

Go travel, and you’ll see how cashless system could be done better and more fair to consumers.

Now people talk about Apple pay, android pay, Samsung pay, very little need to carry cash around, improved security and convenience. Now people use smartphone to tap at London tube, etc. Here, some merchants charge extra if wanna swipe card.

            inb4 tak suka, keluar.

I find it ridiculous for TNG to apply a surcharge, when we use TNG for shopping mall carparks.

Since TNG reduces the need for paper receipts and standalone payment machines, TNG/the government should be giving TNG users DISCOUNTS.

Adding this surcharge – another example of a harebrained idea from backward-thinking government-backed firms.

I got cheated last week using smart-tag although it’s PLUS fault. Entering from Ayeh Keroh toll, I sense something wrong because there’s no beep sound but the boom gate opened. When exit Sg Besi toll, the electronic board states that I did not enter any toll thus charge me for the maximum distance, more than 50 bucks. WTF!

If I take my family on an LRT ride, can I tepek my TnG several times at the entry for each of my family member, and tepek the same number of times at the exit?

Or is it tepek once to enter, and cannot tepek anymore unless I exit?

TNG is a monopoly in card based payment.. In the past, other operators tried to do something similar but the government thinks competition is bad and stop the other operations. So now, why should TNG cares about the consumers? What choice do you have? With tolls not accepting cash, consumers are stucked with TNG with no other alternatives… Bravo to mahathirnomics…..

Spot on! He never think of that. Imagine the need to have and reload 10-15 different toll cards… Sammy Vellu make the right decision that only a single / common payment card should be use in all toll highway. Its all about practicality, simplicity, logic and economy of scale, not monopoly.
