Tesla Model 3 was the “biggest product launch ever”

Tesla Model 3-10

Having just debuted about a week ago and already the Tesla Model 3 has gained immense success. In the company’s official blog, it stated that the overwhelming response for the Model 3 makes it “the single biggest one-week launch of any product ever.”

Previously, pre-orders for the Model 3 had reached 276,000. Now, the numbers have swelled to over 325,000 orders. According to Tesla, the latest orders corresponds to about USD$14 billion (RM55 billion) in implied future sales. As a recap, to reserve one, customers had to pay US$1,000 (RM3,884) up-front.

While the pre-order figures alone may seem to be the biggest news here, it’s the attention that the Model 3 has garnered that’s noteworthy too. “Unlike other major product launches, we haven’t advertised or paid for any endorsements,” the brand disclosed.

“This has been a true grassroots effort driven by the passion of the Tesla team that’s worked so hard to get to this point and our current and future customers who believe so strongly in what we are trying to achieve,” the company wrote.

The Model 3 made its world debut via livestream recently. The electric car will be catered to the masses as it’s more affordable than the rest, starting at US$35,000 (RM136,600). Elon Musk, CEO of Tesla noted that there’s still some tweaks left to be done to the final product – both inside and outside. Safety-wise, the Model 3 is expected to achieve five-star ratings in every test category.

In addition to that, the Model 3’s setup will be similar to the larger, more expensive Model S. It will be a rear-wheel drive configuration, a dual-motor, while all-wheel drive will also be available. Meanwhile, Autopilot features are standard in the Model 3. Features include autonomous steering, lane change, braking and parking (with Summon remote parking feature).

Ok. no doubt it’s kinda awesome.
    but what if, tesla could
    a.)introduce back the original handbrake
b.)No autopilot thingy. basic infotainment will do.
c.) carbon bits here and there. with momo and recaros.
d.)regenarate braking to mimic engine braking, and brembo’s
e.)rear wheel driven with electric moto torque vectoring.

Model 3 also indicates the “trend of the future” that is less fossil fuel, more renewable energy and connectivity from their changing customer base.
